Pahela Baisakh

Every nation has a particular year and they celebrate the first day of that year. The first day of Bangla year is called Pahela Baisakh. The celebration of it is a traditional matter. The people of the Indian sub-coninent have been celebrating this day for centuries. Really we celebrate it to recitify ourselves. The rural people arrange good foods and a baisakhy fair under big bayan tree and any open field. Children go there putting on fine dress . The shop keepers decorate their shops and open halkhata and offer sweets to in customers. Many city people walk up early in the morning and go to the function and enjoy poem reciting , songs , stage, drama lecture etc. Many people eat panta rice with friend hilsa fish in the morning.they put on fine dress but a few young boys put on pungabis and trousers and a few young girls put on yellow sacres . Students of different schools and institutions and members of different cultural organization bring out colourful procession. Different cultural organization arrange cultural function for observing the day for the observation of the day.

The significance of the day is great. Through the celebration of this day, we can remember our bengali culture and tradition.
