One Year On. Are You Still Up For The Challenge And Ready To Begin The Next Chapter??? 🐋

Well, well, well... It's been a funny old year and in many ways I think I speak for most when I say, not at all what we were expecting.

The vast majority of us shared the build-up to Whaleshares from the Steemiverse where we were becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of development and the fact that the platform and perhaps the blockchain were meandering aimlessly without a rudder.

I may be a witness but I have shared many, many of the same frustrations with Whaleshares too, frustrations that many were experiencing. It would be tantamount to a Herculean task to come up with something that pleased everybody and still managed to remain a viable option to support a cryptocurrency backed economic system.

BUT!

I have always believed from day 1 and still believe today that we will reach exactly the destination we need to in order for the community, the platform and the chain to stake it's rightful claim in the cryptosphere.

The first thing I will say for Whaleshares, a platform that many had written off as just another Steemclone is that it has never been afraid to try new things out with an attempt to not just emulate others but to actually innovate. For anybody who wants to see the platform become a viable proposition, this ethos is something we need to embrace.

Remember just what a new technology this is, the model is still to be perfected, this could take many years, I am excited to be involved at such an early stage and look forward to the future with massive enthusiasm and excitement. Their are many among us who want instant results and a platform that pays out massively each time they roll the dice, these people will not be among us for too long, after all a scratchcard could much better fulfill their needs.

Those who approach everything with hostility and aggression should take their personal black cloud elsewhere at the earliest possible opportunity as they are not fit to bathe in the glow of our collective magnificence as we rise up and go from strength to strength.

Yup, I know, I know I haven't liked every single change either, however, when I cast my mind back a year or 2 to those Steemy days we were all looking for someone to shake things up and roll out meaningful updates and changes. We were repeatedly left disappointed and disheartened, right?

Despite looking for innovation, I am also paradoxically a creature of habit, I spend a lot of time feeling frustrated that my oh-so-familiar interface console has changed and then I remember that I absolutely cannot have it both ways, right?

The message I am trying to get across here is that we all owe it to ourselves, the platform and those who have put in the hard yards in order to try and make the platform more dynamic, appealing and an easy on-boarding proposition.

We cannot judge too quickly or too harshly, too early.

Oh don't misunderstand, we have that right but in order to make a mature, logical, well thought out opinion we need to use V3, think about the pros and cons of the forks and updates as we come across them, make our feelings as a community known and help with suggestions.

I am certain there will be an army of haters ready to put the kibosh on things and negatively state just how bad things are... That seems, sadly, to be the way of things nowadays.

We need reality, but we also need to be fair in our dealings with others within the community, developing and handling information dissemination. Always remembering that the community is but a year old and is an evolving entity. If you believe that enough people have well meant, good intentions for the long-run, then patience is a virtue we need to exhibit.If you believe the community is headed by those with deep pockets, ill intentions and surreptitious and unscrupulous plans, why on earth would you be here today?

As sure as the sun rises and sets there WILL be issues, gremlins and teething problems, there always is after major updates, I urge patience and understanding, after all how effective is the alternative?

If I sound a little too positive or maybe that should read optimistic!!! Let me share something with you...

I hated the DaBa update, I still am not a massive fan however I also understand the reason there was a need for it. I am not a massive fan of the need to login every single day in order to not forfeit curation rewards, as someone with a questionable internet connection, this will cost me often, I am certain, but in order to try and see the full picture and the end vision for the platform, the chain and the community I am willing to be flexible and to trust in the vision that is being driven by people with technical skills way beyond mine.

I guarantee that you will see massive positives being unveiled as we move forward. Let me assure you that both @stevenwood and @optimism-witness are suitably optimistic about the future being incredibly bright for us all

So let me issue you with a challenge one year on from my very first post on August 15th 2018...

Re-visit with your big reason for being here, why did you join, what is your mission statement???

Can you see how you are still on track to accomplish that which you set out to do here?

So let us get on with the task of building this community and all of it's wonderfully diverse sub-communities in to a fabulously welcoming place for new people to come and join us for the ride. We have come a long way in the last year BUT we have not come nearly far enough to be an appealing proposition for mass adoption and taking on the hideous controlling, data selling social media platforms that the mainstream are already familiar with.

Let me give you one final golden nugget to ponder, I wholeheartedly believe what I am about to tell you...

As far as the crypto side of Whaleshares is concerned, forget about price, seriously, it is less about price and far more about community. If we get that side right and work on each being an ambassador for Whaleshares, the pioneers if you like, then the crypto side will take care of itself.
