I have not been, and will not be present on the platform for a while, but that doesn't mean I left the community.

The idea for this post was to reflect on what has happened, what is happening, and what wil happen in the future, but I will leave that for another day.

So what does "still active" look like?

Coffee Bot (discord)

As mentioned in another post, there were some issues with the coffee bot. A memory leak to be more precise. This made the bot stop once every two weeks or so. Some work has been done to remedy that. And just for the sake of it, a new feature was added. You can now get notified when a certain tag is used.

The current version sends notifications for:

• Comments
• Mentions
• Tags
• Friend Actions
• Pod Actions
• Witness Votes
• Tips
• Transfers

The Coffee bot listens to the following command

The colors in use were also altered, I hope for the better. Let me know when things look odd.

Whaleshares.nl

Also due to spontaneous errors, the system behind the whaleshares.nl website has been changed from querying directly from the blockchain, to making use of a (limited) database. I am not storing all the blocks, just most of the information I need to generate the pages. Some information is still retrieved from the blockchain directly. Apart from making it work correctly again, it should also speed up the loading of some pages.

• A picture says more than a 1,000 words, that is why I am looking into adding graphs. The first one can be found on the Facts and Fun page.
  

• For active witnesses, next to their regular information, their witness information will also show up when people check their account.
  

• To give votes on disabled witnesses more focus, that section was moved up. At this moment, some red lines show up as well when one of the witnesses you voted for is (temporarily) disabled. I am not happy with that, so that will change soon.

Note: Don't be too hard on witnesses who run a server, but are not active on the platform. Some of these people have supported the project unconditionally from the start. Despite the costs.

• Information is being gathered on the actions performed on the platform, per day. When the time is right this information will be made public. Right now I am adding graphs to those numbers as well to make it easier to spot a trend.

• I have some code to mute a pod account. This can not be done on the platform directly at the moment. Can't make up my mind whether or not it will be useful to add to the website as a tool.

Witness Alert System

Some changes are made, and some others will be made, to the logic of the email system that notifies witnesses when their server is missing blocks. There is a chance some false positive messages have been sent. Sorry for that.

Server Maintenance

From time to time any server needs some maintenance, or at least a check. This also goes for the servers I am currently running (witness, backup, seednode, fullnode).
