The Burj Al Arab (Burj Al Arab, 2019) is a luxury hotel located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. It is built on a man-made island. The hotel is managed by Jumeriah Group. The hotel was inaugurated in 1999 with the cost of US$ 1 billion. The building has 28 double-story floors which accommodate 202 bedroom suites. There are many notable features of the building apart from world’s third tallest hotel, such as hotel's helipad, security system and honeycomb patterns of rock which protects foundation from erosion. The building was inspired from Vasco da Gama Tower in Lisbon and Trump Ocean Club International Hotel in Panama City.

HISTORY

The place where Burj Al Arab (Burj Al Arab, 2019) is located was previously known as Miami Beach. The BurjAl Arab was designed by a consultancy “Atkins”. The lead architect was Tom Wright and construction was managed by Canadian engineer Rick Gregory also
of Atkins. The owner of the building is “SheikhMohammed Bin Rashid
Al Makhtoum”. The construction was started in 1994 and completed in 1999 with almost 3000 construction workers. The total height of the building was 321m.

WHY THIS BUILDING and its Security System

As we know, this is one of the most expensive and luxurious hotel in the world and when it was opened in 1999, the technology used in this building was far too ahead as compared to other buildings. The
security system of this building was advanced and today also, the quality of service and security system is unmatchable. This building is of office tower species. This building is an internal load building
because there are many occupants in the building including staff and guests.

BUILDING SUB-SYSTEM – SECURITY SYSTEM

About Security SystemRobust (Aruba Solutions, 2019) authentication and other features ensure that our guests are fully secured and protected while still enjoying high performance Wi-Fi. The Hotel has also activated Aruba’s Wireless Intrusion Protection (WIP) feature to detect and mitigate the threat of rogue APs. These security features further ensure that the Hotel’s many Point of Sale (POS) systems, which are all
Wi-Fi connected, can execute their transactions safely. Wi-Fi has enabled the Jumeirah Group to be able to introduce a plethora of new guest services. They have tablet based premium check-in, mobile check-in and check-out

How it works ?

The security system (Hosco, 2019) works with the building management system to allow security personnel at the Burj Al Arab to take quick action
during a security breach or threat. The interoperabilityof key building systems ensures a comfortable and safe environment for all guests and tenants. The safety benefits are immeasurable. If an unauthorized person accesses a secure area, the building sub-systems, including cameras and intercoms, are immediately activated. The central security control room(Hosco, 2019), is responsible for the monitoring of the C.C.T.V. system, fire alarm panel, panic alarm system, emergency telephone, elevator control monitor, emergency lightingcontrolmonitor, maintenance of files, key register, issue and safe custody of keys. The main entrance is responsible for controlling traffic movements. The checkpoint, is responsible for issuing of contractors/visitors passes not allowing unauthorized persons to enter the hotel and carry out random colleague checks to prevent hotel property being removed without a proper “Property Removal Form”.
