My posts generally stray into the territory of thousands of words but today I'm gonna keep things a little more brief and let you beautiful people do most of the work...It's a win/win you don't need to spend the next hour propping your eyes open with matchsticks and I get to pick your brains...
Interesting ((but gross)) factoid - The ancient Egyptians used a hook-like implement to remove the brain through the nose prior to mummification... However they went to great lengths to preserve all of the other internal organs. I guess intellect was not too highly regarded then!
Fear not, this is not the manner in which I wish to pick your brains Dear reader. No I merely crave your opinion and would be delighted to receive a little interaction to this end.
So as I said in my carefully constructed title...I think the platform has been live long enough to begin asking the bigger questions, do you agree?
We have all become familiar with the interface, have some experience of posting, engaging and interacting via the comments section. We have all made countless up-shares and received a vast amount too. Hopefully you have taken some time to learn about witnesses, learn about who they are and most important of all what they stand for...Do their words and actions match up, for the ones that have passed the test I would hope that you have taken the time to cast some witness votes. Witnesses play a massive part in the health and safety of our platform and indirectly have the very same effect and influence over our community.
With all of these factors in mind...how are you finding the platform on the whole?
- Is it all you had hoped it would be?
- Do you think we have overcome some of the widespread problems and manipulations that many of us have witnessed on other platforms?
- Are you finding engagement levels much better than you expected?
- Do you engage more than you anticipated?
- Do you find your posts get seen more than on other platforms?
- Are you feeling the buzz and excitement of being her early ,before things really hot-up?
First and foremost I want to hear thoughts and opinions I am not too concerned which category of question they fall under. I am mostly concerned with hearing where you think we are at. BUT My real question is this...
- What would you like to see here that you currently do not?
- Is there anything that the witnesses, leaders and influencers should be doing better?
- How do you feel about a bot-free platform?
- Is there any aspect of the platform that has disappointed you or not matched your expectations?
- Do you feel 'in the loop' about where the platform is heading as we move forward into the third quarter of the platforms short life.
Finally where does your level of optimism lie?
Some will say that the platform s still a newborn baby ((rightly)) and that it is too early to ask such big questions and in many ways I agree...
BUT!
Here is my reasoning... I do not want the platform to begin to stagnate and decay because people waited too long to begin asking. I think of it as taking the newborns temperature early enough to take remedial action. I don't believe in waiting until sickness shows itself to begin looking after general health better. If you had taken a wrong turnoff on a journey would you rather find out early that you were going in the wrong direction, or just keep driving in the hope it's probably gonna be OK?
Here is what I do NOT want!
I do not want community members using my comments section a s a personal dumping ground for toxic viewpoints. This doesn't mean I only wanna hear positive stuff, far from it...I want to hear truth but in a constructive way... If there is something you utterly detest about the platform be constructive and tell us what could be done about it.
You can talk in generalisations but do not attack other users by name...THIS IS NOT CONSTRUCTIVE!
So what is my real aim with this exercise? simple! I want to know if the consensus view is similar to my own. If any major issues are flagged up, you can be sure I will bring them to the attention of the people who should care. When appropriate I will contact the user who raised the question afterwards to inform them of the response I received.
There is another reason that I want to understand if my views are on par with those of the community...
I am considering becoming a Whaleshares witness, completely focussed on engagement. What exactly do I mean by this? I am passionate about engaging with other members of the community. From those who have been here since day 1 and those arriving right now to begin their day 1. In many ways I believe the latter of the 2 is most important of all. I have a vision something along the lines of...
- Begin to spend a portion of my time on old style social media, creating on-boarding initiatives.
- Try and catch as many new users as I am able in order to teach them about best practices of engagement, content creation and curation.
- I would love to create a talent-pool of current community members with the aim of beginning an education programme covering: Blockchains, crypto, engagement, the ramifications of stake usage etc.
- Using some initiatives I have in mind ((which will be launched whether I do indeed become a witness or not)) and outside investment for incentives I will be offering, create some reasons to learn to do this properly.
- Compile an extensive resource-pool for people writing in a second language, who want/need it?
- create a mindblowing curation project that has gotta be seen to be believed.
This will likely be a decision that takes me a few weeks to consider all the advice I am given and make a decision.
As long as the points raised are civil and objective, you can address anything that you deem appropriate.
