I glossed over the whale_paper before, but today I really studied it.

Here's my thoughts.

First thought is that a great deal of work went into the whale paper I was impressed by the amount of content.

I also understand that to fully understand whaleshares, you have to re-evaluate what is wrong with conventional financial systems, and social media platforms.

**(This is probably why the whale_paper went into great detail about antiquated systems).

Interestingly enough, the real details about the whaleshares problem don't appear until around page 24 out of 33 pages in the document.

I found some golden gems in that document:

Quote:

Whaleshares is a Sharing platform with the intent of seeding projects and empowering token-backed communities.

Quote:

Whaleshares is a sharing economy at its heart.

Well that sums it up pretty nicely with those two statements!

What wasn't mentioned that I found, is why the word "whale" has such a significant factor in the branding. It did explain how whaleshares evolved. However, it could explain why the name is stilled retained for the present and future.

I did see whales addressed frequently in regards to tokens. I suppose we could address whales as being a traditional stock market trading term.. However, more than that, whales other than being large in wealth, also as a mammal travel in pods, communicate over thousands of miles, and are a very key part of our ecosystem that are needed.

Whales as part of this sharing platform are the best ones to lead by example. Whales that contribute little, don't reward others, and just "power down and cash out constantly" (aka killer whale) is what has severely hurt other social media platforms.

My next suggestion for the whalepaper is to address investing opportunities. What will give WLS its true value? Giving some examples might make the opportunities a little more obvious.

Since whaleshares is free to read... and whaleshares is free to post... you have to ask yourself, why someone would want to buy WLS tokens.

The idea is that they may want to have more influence on the system. Yes, that works for some investors. Others wish to speculate on the price today, vs what they think it will be worth in 5 years from now.

Making a clear distinction that WLS is a Bitshares Dex token, and Whaleshares is basically a Bitshares compatible token-backed community sharing platform... ...means...

If you want to fundraise for your project, gain user adoption, and build synergistic relationships:
...post on whaleshares
...create your token on Bitshares
...and have your organization's website link to both!

...however more than this... if you consider you basically have an online commerce bank, a merchant processor, an accounting system, and a server host for your content...

Any business on the internet can make use of these whaleshares + bitshares tools freely to help them in their day to day operations.

To be even more clear:

Why does the internet have value? Why do people pay so much money per month, to have an internet connection?

  • ...because of content. The resources available. The ease of use, and the utility it provides.

Why will the WLS token have value? Where will the demand come from?

  • ...because of content. The resources available. The ease of use, and the utility it provides.

I'm just thinking out loud and brain storming. If you have any comments to what I've written, want to make corrections, or share your own thoughts, please do! :)
