I guess you own too many tokens already? Have you been searching for ways to lose some weight off your token stach and you are not capable of thinking of smart ways of throwing away your tokens?. Yes! You are in the right place, I will “remind you” of the easiest way to lose your whaletokens, without you even knowing until you “know”.

Enough with the drama, no one in their right senses would purposely sign up to throwing away their hard earned tokens unless they were sleep-typing (not in their right senses either) :wink:

People Create Near Identical BTS Accounts

The easiest steps to take advantage of someone’s silly fingers who fails to cross check an address either due to Confidence or Actual Mistake before sending assets on bitshares is to create a near identical BTS username.

This feels like a dummy account to receive the tokens of people who at that very moment somehow forgot to put an ‘x’ in front of ‘rnk’. RNKX is the bitshares account that receives MILK tokens in exchange of an upshare on whaleshares. Apparently, I was not the only slippery finger folk who got caught in this charade. @stevenmoses appears to have received a “thank you” letter from rnk too, 400 Milk!. :money_mouth_face: . I have made similar mistake while using Hairshares last year.

It isn’t just this very account, the bts account that accepts MET tokens for upshares is “official-met”. Some users have sent MET tokens to the bitshares “MET” which isn’t the official either. These are all easy ways to lose your tokens, such near-identical or easily used usernames are in abundance for most tokens receiving accounts, BEWARE!!!.

What If The Token Owner Owns Both Accounts?

Some days back, I sent 50 whooping pixel tokens to bts account “Pixel”. I waited for hours but didn’t get the upshare. Damn!, I was supposed to send to “pixelshare”, clumsy me.. I told myself “buddy, be careful next time, token gone into oblivion”. Someone later mentioned that she thinks at-pixel “might” be the owner of that account, so it would have been easier for me to get back the tokens but I was occupied to the throat. I didn't bother confirming the info though. At the end, a different token owner sent me 50 pixels, so I didn’t buzz at-pixel with my troubles.

Save yourself the stress, even if the token owner owns both account, no one likes to be disturbed. Imagine if 10 people had similar issues daily? It would become a day job for the token owners. Lol.

Simplest Solution

Get your addresses right!. This isn’t an issue of whaletoken only, I had to learn this the hard way a year ago after sending 95 Steem to Bittrex with the wrong Memo. I used my sbd Memo instead of my Steem memo. At the time, one steem was way above 5 dollars per steem. Silly mistake, but that would never had happened if I was more careful and cross checked my transaction before hitting “Send”.

Get Your addresses right and cross check over and over and over again.

If you can't constantly visit whaleshares.io and you don't have a 101% photographic memory, then get a screenshot saved locally. Always cross check your addresses.

One Important Tip

If you are a frequent user of any of these tokens, it would serve you well to simply "Add(+ icon)" those usernames to your bitshares. Add them up, so you don't have to type the usernames anymore; don't have selective blindness syndrome though, so you don't end up sending dbread to bhive. :joy:
