Speaking on Abuse

bahPosted for Everyone to comment on, 5 years ago5 min read

The lamest and most ridiculous reasoning that is usually given when people speak of abusive stakeholders is that those doing so are Envious and Jealous of the abusers. Essentially it says that we cannot wait to abuse as they do and I think such asinine bumblings come from the mentality that one couldn't possibly express strong criticism towards someone without secretly wishing that they themselves were in the others shoes and enjoying what they essentially voice such strong criticism of.

Generally, when adherents of that tripe step in to defend or at least excuse or apologize for the abuse, I mock them and enjoy a good hardy laugh but today I decided to really have at it.

A couple of days ago this post made a really important debut:

I wish more people would read it and we would hear from the community leaders on it as it voices very simple to see concerns and offers equally common sense and helpful pointers to make this place even more in the spirit of sharing.

Under that post, a certain someone decided to basically slander the community leaders by claiming that the reason why people are going after haejin is a two-fold sandwich of Jelly and Envy, because "everyone self-votes". Granted that he alluded that because if someone self-votes on a rare occasion or here and there, they are all self-voting with the frequency that haejin does and they are jealous and envious of the power of haejin.

I pointed out that there's a subtle difference between self-voting and exclusive or almost exclusive self-voting, which was promptly handwaved away as " it's black and white" which denies there is a difference while he was also falling back onto the other argument that is constantly tossed around when defending abusers like haejin, or that he hasn't broken any rules. I am yet to hear anything back to my counterpoint to that but surprisingly the adamant haejin shielder did respond back by claiming the jealousy and envy is so overwhelming to the discerning mind, which I take to mean that if I couldn't see it, he couldn't explain it any better than what I so generously demonstrated.

I decided to up the ante then and put it bluntly as I've done in the past with the subject of Vaccinations and challenged him to explain himself as to why I am jealous and envious and why other people are as well and demonstrate how that is so.

So ladies and gents, will we hear back with the answer which will neither be obtuse to nuance and subtleties and logically sound and coherent to boot about one of the most ambiguous emotions?

I have no reason to think so, not only is envy something that requires an indication that one wishes to enjoy or possess the advantage of, in this case, exclusive self-voting, but defining what is jealousy and envy is almost a futile endeavor as the ambiguity of both is quite vast encompassing numerous thoughts, emotions and feelings, and as not all resentment or fear or concern is envy or jealousy, regardless of the context, one would be in quite a fight to demonstrate or explain them as jealousy and envy.

Meanwhile, I think why this person attaches so much to so little, is because Jealousy and Envy is a projection, their Freudian slip.

Who wouldn't be envious and jealous of the community leaders and the network they formed from the friendships and acquaintances to the numerous initiatives and projects and of the recognition and exposure they receive through all that they sponsor and are part of?

Why else call such things "a cartel" and denounce the natural, organic reciprocity of them by saying it's circle jerking, if one is not struck by envy and jealousy of all those different things, which obviously are something quite understandable to be envious and jealous of?

If WLS were a first-person shooter, we would be accused of being E&J of spawn camping, grenade spamming, equipment camping speaking against obvious abuses. If it were any sport we would be accused of being E&J over unfair or malicious referees, if it were a card game we would be accused of being E&J of sleight of hand, card stacking or card counting.

Too bad that "there are no rules that Haejin broke", which as bad as it is, there cannot be any rules for, as if a rule exists to diminish the voting power as more and more self-voting happens, the vests will simply be distributed to sockpuppet accounts, thereby increasing the concealment of abuse and negating the effect of the rule or outright making abuse even worse.
Regardless of rules though, one thing is clear, he's certainly not part of the community and the indefensible stance of shielding or excusing the abuse demands the criticism and ridicule which attaches so properly to the abuse itself.
