Must be Open to CRTICISM
Am artist must embrace constructive critiques, this is not to make you feel devastated but to grow. During criticism the art work is thoroughly evaluated and analysed and different opinions are give on the good/bad qualities of the work criticism in a nutshell will help the artist to improve and receieve more ideas on how to tackle and outgrow a particular area he had deficiency and difficulties with.
sourceA crave For Perfection
Every artist desire is to grow in their various areas of specialization, creative abilities and skills. The word perfection might appear to be unattainable but it is never impossible. A quest for perfection will cajole the artist to aspire to be better and give him the necessary vibe/inspiration to achieve this goal everyday.Must understand The tonal gradation
This is applied to some aspect of two -dimensional art [painting, drawing, illustration, comics.....etc] Some newbie artists have this issues with appropriate application of their tonal values. Lets start with this, tonal gradation is the gradual flow of tones from the lightest area to the darkest area and vice versa. A proper use of tonal gradation gives the work a sense of solidity and life but if its not use well, then the art pice appears flat, lifeless and unappealing.
sourceMust be Patient
Some artworks require a long period of for its completion. Normally, art works aint supposed to ne rushed except on rare occasions. Art and time are lovers....hehe.
Speaking from experience, the minimal time it takes to complete my pen drawing on an A3 sized cardboard is 120hours (5days)....really huge huh?
Also i love taking it slow and easy, i rarely do rush works....no pain, no gain remember?Practice/consistency.
Great/popular artists we have today are people who were always practicing in behind closed doors over the years. A popular quotes states: practice makes perfect practice improves skills.
