I remembered vividly, March 24th 2017, I had a conversation with a young man who seemed to be very frustrated about the events happening in his life and he needed to read ‘his’ map to get things back in shape. We all get frustrated at a point in our lives and frustration can be the rightful fuel and spark that jogs us into action. It isn’t all too negative or counter productive as most people seem to see it, frustration could be good, very good. The conversation ensued when I met him for the first time, he thought I could help him out with what he was going through at the time (preferably financially), at the time, I had no silver nor gold, I don’t still have that right now!.

HIM: For so long now I have been trying to get "this" stuff to work and I am super frustrated. I don tire my broda, abeg help me!.

I felt it was strange he was complaining to a complete stranger like me.

ME: Oh, You should have done “this” to get “that”

His reply after I said that baffled me, greatly!.

HIM: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.

At this point, I was more intrigued and I thought to myself; “He knows?”

ME: You know that already?

HIM: Yes.

I took a deep breath and toned down my voice to convey my message to him, not wanting to bar up in high toned manner, and oh, I didn’t wanna sound like a dick even though I wasn't one.

ME: So why are you still here? Why haven’t you done that?.

HIM: Well, I have been thinking of to hmmmm, hmmmm, hmmm.

I jumped in and interrupted him because he was perhaps gonna give me an excuse, it was my way of telling him; You’ve got no valid alibi buddy!. We spoke at length for almost an hour and we parted ways, we exchanged numbers and I tried to make him see the bigger picture of what he had failed to do.

I had never met him save that day and I doubt I will recognize him if our paths ever crossed again.

Feb 10th, 2018, I had two missed calls, I was wondering who was calling so early, there was a name attached to the number, yet I couldn't figure who it was. The same number/person called again and lo and behold - it was him!. He tried reminding me of the event that brought us together and the moment it snapped in my head, I was speechless..

We had a few more talk on the phone like we had been friends for a long time, lol. He told me how fantastic things were going and how he stepped up after the long hour talk we had on that fateful day( He recalled the date to me and I confirmed it after the call). I was happy for this young man and it felt good knowing what he had done afterwards and how he took the little one-hour long talk I had to offer. Damn great!.

His call came at a time I was planning to do something, a time I was lazy, a time I had to do something really, really, very important. It was a time I needed an advice the most, I couldn't get it from anywhere not even from my inner self because I would simply discount anything I came up with(strange!). The phone call of this friendly stranger was all I needed, I immediately recalled all the words that I had said to him!. Those were the exact words I was looking for at that point in my life that I couldn't find. I was glad, happy and thankful that this young man returned those words to me, in a way I would never have predicted.

If there was anything I learnt that very day, it was that Our Words come back to us in ways unknown and the yesterday's stranger you showered with helpful words and advice 'May' be the exact help you need in the future in ways unknown. That call helped me in ways he never knew, he was being thankful over the phone, but I think I was the one who needed to be thankful.

Words are Immortal, What exactly are you immortalising? What are you Spreading?.
Let your words heal, let your words be a burden lifter, let your words be as profitable as possible, many people NEED your help right this moment in many ways not few. What are you immortalizing?. Speak LIFE!. always.

for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

In many ways unknown!...

Immortally Yours,
Tongue.
