The work is strange because even the preface is somewhat peculiar. Nor can it be said that it is a novel, but an anthology of stories connected by years. What is relevant about the novel is that it composes fantasy with science fiction, and that is the only reason why it is worth reading it.

Clifford D. Simak was a journalist and science fiction writer. Originally from the United States, he won three Hugo awards and was the third to receive the Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master Award.

What it's about

Told from the version of the dogs, now owners of the land, they tell us the stories of how the human being became extinct. City, gives us a whole repertoire of legends in a beautiful and even healthy way.

The dogs, the protagonists of the stories, tell us that the disappearance of the Websters, or humans, was marked by stages that connected to each other, triggered their end. If the other apocalyptic books give us a tragic and violent version, you will find none of that in City. /p>

City shows us as teachings the future paths or evolutions that human beings could go through, making reference to their thoughts and their objective of reaching the stars and transcending life itself. If time favors us we will become boring beings of our existence.

It also introduces us to the idea of whether we were not the creation of another thinking race. The way it envelops myths among dogs makes us wonder if so, since humans are considered gods.

It makes us ask internally, or at least me, what will be the next revolution that sets the tone for man.

Writer's view.

The variety of elements that make up the plot is very fascinating, the tranquillity that they transmit also plays a role that makes it different. This stillness is not boring but marvellous and puts the mind to work, not everything is war or fights so that the human disappears from the world.

Each chapter is connected in a masterly way, it will keep you from letting go of the story. It will keep the reader in suspense, detecting if he is bold the threads and will tie up the ends of the clues left by the author.

As a novice writer I find it sensational and unique how he uses ghosts, alternate and mutant dimensions in the genre. The mixture gives a good flavor and form, and it doesn't remain an amorphous narrative. All that remains is to take an example of the author's style and know how to use the right components.
