Piero Liatti with his Subaru Impreza WRC

I really liked Liatti's driving style. So precise and with pure feeling on a driving wheel. Some says that you can feel your car in your but. When you are seat belted, you can't feel nothing but the feel in your hands because you can't move your body. You can move it only to breathe, move hands and legs.

First time I saw Liatti was in 1992 when he drove Lancia Felta HF Integrale on New Zealand Rally. He finished 2nd there, about 4 minutes behind Carlos Sainz who drove Toyota Cellica group A in that time.

Liatti's entry there wasn't official, he had to go on the other continent for one rally just to get FIA (or FISA) license to have points counted from the WRC rallies.

Later he started to drive Subaru in Italian Rally Championship and World Rally Championship scene was to follow.

He won only one WRC rally - and this one was in Monte Carlo, the most prestige. The year was 1997. His co-driver was Fabrizia Pons in his Subaru days.

After he signed with Seat in 1999, Pons left his right seat and Carlo Cassina became his co-driver. But the results were also gone.

It seems that Fabrizia Pons was his lucky person in the right seat.

After Seat he drove some rallies with Ford and Hyundai. And that was it.

He told me that he is some kind of advisor/mentor to Prada's son Lorenzo Bertelli who just bought Ford Fiesta WRC 2017 from M-Sport.
