Hi, friends!

Monte Carlo Rallye is always a first station of the World Rally Championship and that will also be the case next year so we are waiting for it now. It's boring without events to follow. That's why we are going to the past and search for some interesting events to recapitulate our knowledge.

The year is 1993 and there's no more works Lancia Team. Jolly Club took all the duties for them with Totip as their title sponsor (beside Repsol as Sainz's personal sponsor). At least Lancia paid to Carlos Sainz sr to drive the car in 1993. When there's not works involvement, there is no equal progress with the other teams because you can't have enough testing without funds that can only factory squad secure. Beside Sainz sr, Alex Fiorio took the wheel of 2nd Lancia Delta HF Integrale. That car couldn't follow progress of the other cars and it was obvious at the first event of the season in Monte Carlo.

Ford just started with Escort RS Cosworth, group A, of course. We are still in pre-WRC time because WRC cars started in 1997. Their cars were driven by Francois Delacour and twice world champion Miki Biasion. Delacour was then very prominent pilot with lots of heat around.

It was a great time for me because I just started to follow WRC at the end of 1992 (event by event) and I enjoyed it a lot. You will see some other great teams around as Mitsubishi and Toyota etc.

Anyway, Delacour was leading for Ford almost whole rally and at the last few stages Auriol took the lead and won by 15s. Great drive, guys...
