In the reverse fixture between these two sides, it wasn't an easy game for Liverpool as Brentford, being a newcomer then, held Liverpool to a 3-3 draw to introduce themselves to the Premier League faithfuls. It was a different affair this time around without Sadio Mane and Salah, Liverpool put Brentford to the sword with a resounding 3-0 victory at Anfield.

Brentford, as usual, caused Liverpool all sorts of problems but the rear guards managed to keep Liverpool into the game and Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Minamino made sure there won't be a repeat of the first leg encounter after they confined Brentford to a defeat. No one can take it away from Brentford that they have been having a wonderful season and even with this loss, you can be sure they are hell-bent on securing their safety for another Premier League campaign.

Liverpool went on the front foot after Alexander Arnold tested his long-range strike just outside the box but he was unable to get his effort on target. Van Dijk could have given his side the lead so early on too after a brilliant corner kick delivery came to him. He managed to strike the ball but a last-ditch clearance on the line saved the ball from going in.

Toney managed to race down the left side of the pitch for Brentford and he did so well in getting into the box only to pick out Janelt. His shot came off the back of Robertson as the ball was destined to go to the back of the net after beating Alisson for speed.

Liverpool finally got the goal their effort deserved in the 44th minute after Alexander Arnold delivered a corner kick into the box. The ball evaded everyone and bounced for Fabinho who only had to steer his header goal-ward into the empty net from the near post.

Brentford wasted another golden chance after Norgaard cleverly picked out Mbeumo inside the box. He managed to lose his marker but he was unable to get his effort on target in what would have been a wonderful goal for his side. He missed by just a whisker despite the goalkeeper clearly beaten.

Liverpool struck the post later on after Jota drove into Brentford's half. Alexander Arnold got a touch as the ball came nicely for Jota who managed to strike the ball even with little space but his effort was only good enough to strike the post. The rebound fell to Firmino who wasted the chance by striking a tame shot rather than picking out teammates with the options he had inside the box.

Firmino and Jota combined so well as Norgaard couldn't get the ball which afforded Firmino the chance to pick out Jota but with the goalkeeper the only one in his way, he was denied by the goalkeeper with a timely block.

Not to be denied for long, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain increased Liverpool's tally on the day to 2-0 after Robertson's lovely delivery into the box was met with a clever header by the English man in the 69th minute.

The goals were completed in the 77th minute after the goalkeeper's pass to Norgaard was snuffed out by Firmino who managed to pass to Minamino as he slotted the ball into the empty net on his birthday. Minamino could have gotten an assist too after he found Gordon with a clever pass but he was denied by the goalkeeper. The game ended 3-0 and Jürgen Klopp wouldn't have any worries regarding this.
