Crazy Japanese Capsule Machines!

On my last deployment, I spent a few days here and there in port in various places around Japan while not at sea. I had been several times before to Japan on a couple other deployments, but this last one was the first time I got into buying a few things from the Capsule machines there.

In the places I had been I've seen rows of capsule machines in malls, around stores, and just in random locations here and there. It wasn't until this last deployment we stopped in Yokohama and I spent a day in the Akihabara in Tokyo. There were HUNDREDS of capsule machines all over the place. The picture above was taken outside an electronic store there and the just kept going.

The capsule machines have various toys, statues, figures, and random other things. I found one with hats for cats. The one I bought from had different fruit hats for cats and I ended up getting a lemon hat. My cat hated it when I put it on her after I got home. I LOVE* the weirdness of random things in Japan and I wanted to share some of the things I got in capsule machines with you.

Aww, it's a little cute puppy with a string to attach to your bag...

BUT WAIT!!!

BOOM!

It's now a puppy with an alien mask! I saw the machine outside a hobby shop in Sasebo and had to buy it. There were a couple different random animals that you could get, each one with an awesome alien mask!

I mean who wouldn't want a figure of an animal that is peeing into a urinal! That machine had several animals peeing into a urinal and I ended up getting a gorilla. I laughed so hard when I saw that machine.

This machine had various metal coins and stones that you could get. I bought 3 of them from this machine cause I was hoping for one of the cooler displays. I got two of the same ones with this elongated metal stone. It wasn't too interesting, but I liked this one of the coin with the hole in the middle of it.

The machine I got this one out of were all made by the Masonic Temple. At least I think they were. They all have the compass and square stamped on the bottom of them. I bought two of these ones. One of them looks like a grave, and the other was this Tanuki! It is the one I was hoping to get from the machine. And as you can see as with the Tanuki statues in Japan, he has a giant nutsack.

These bags were great! There were a bunch of different animals that you could get. I needed something to put all my yen into, so I dived right in and bought one. Got the bunny one. A couple people on my ship said it looked like a nutsack, haha.

The capsule machines I saw all range from 100 yen to I think I saw a 500 yen machine. There are lots of random fun goodness that you can find in the machines there! Hope you enjoyed a couple of the fun little things you can find in capsules in Japan. Have an AWESOME day!
