Dear Milkbox Community👥🥛:

Before opening this debate we want to invite you to participate in the 👉🏻*new challenge of stories* 👈🏻 that we published a few hours ago. *Thinking about what would happen and how you would react if a loved one (person or pet) disappears, will provide you with the empathy necessary to issue a focused, realistic and honest opinion.*

Since the beginning of formal civilizations, the death penalty has been used as a way of doing justice for both the victim of a crime and his family; however, for some time now, there has been a pro-life movement that tries to abolish such a severe punishment by replacing it with rehabilitation, social reintegration and, later, socio-cultural treatment. The pro-life people argue that the ‘active help’ (and not precisely condemnation) is the way out of so many misdeeds that can be avoided in the future.

There are two sides of the coin: «if you do wrong, you die» and «if you do wrong, there could be a second chance for you».

Now, knowing this, the big questions to be discussed are the following:

  • If someone physically, sexually or psychologically harms a loved one, do you think it's right that the guilty party be condemned to death?

  • If the culprit of an atrocious act turns out to be a person close to you, should there be a death penalty for him/her?

  • When the penitentiary system does not act effectively, do you consider it acceptable for society to take justice into its own hands and kill, torture or burn the criminals?

  • If you disapprove the previous approach, do you think that antisocials should have the option of rehabilitating themselves through assisted collaboration programs and/or prevention campaigns (depending on the «level of the importance» of their act)?

  • Talking about «levels of importance», do you think that all crimes are worthy of the death penalty?

  • If, from your perspective, there are crimes that are more reprehensible than others, what criteria would you use to categorize the one who deserves the death penalty and the one that still has a chance to change?
