Asylum seeker

I'm seeking asylum in your warmth,
in your touch, in the breath on your lips
if you kiss the air beside my cheek.
I seek a space; a concrete floor, a mat, a room,
a rest stop to rest my weary legs, to lie down,
sure that I'll find peace beneath the stars,
beneath the moon, beneath your eyes.
I seek love in your eyes, a welcome that
would fill me up like an earthen pot
before the sparkling water falls and
sweet placid streams of places
I used to call home.

I'm fleeing from terror and pain,
from broken pieces scrambling to be whole,
from dead weights weighing down
every spirit trying to rise out of the mud.
I lost myself at sea; a flotsam at the mercy
of winds, of sharks, of terrible old gods
and cold hearted new gods alike.
I was swept away, unanchored to nothing
but hope and now I'm here, seeking asylum
between your breast, in your arms, in the curve
of your spine, the soft yes of your tongue.

Please do not say no for if you do,
where will I go to?
Home is a broken place where feral beasts
roam and brothers use sisters for toothpicks.
I will stand before your shore,
waiting for your call, waiting to see
your outstretched arms, hopeful
that you'd take my hand and lead me
to your fires and feed me from your breast.
I'm seeking asylum in your warmth,
Please do not say no to me.

NB: I can't write fiction or nonfiction for now. I have so much going on in my life now and I really need some time to do some stuff offline. I have about two stories that are yet to get to the end. I will get back to them, I'm sure. I beg your indulgence as I attempt to once again live a more stable kind of life. No worries, I'm fine as I would ever be. Just have some irons in fire and I need to watch them least they melt and run into the fire, lost forever. In the mean time, lots of poetry to melt your hearts, steady your spirits and shore your souls.
