My Playlist ~ Rainy Day People ~ Gordon Lightfoot

1975 saw the release of this song on Gordon Lightfoot's Cold On The Shoulder album. It would go on to chart very well and even hit number one for a week on the easy listening charts. But more than that, Rainy Day People would become one of a handful of iconic songs that would define the remainder of his career and shape it to this very day. If You Could Read My Mind, Sundown and others would be a part of this tight group of songs that he would never be able to get away from performing.

1982 found me playing the bar scene in Orillia, Ontario Canada, and doing so at only 17 years of age. I was playing completely illegally and getting paid great money to do it. My mom was happy that I was doing that as opposed to being a weed dealer or such :joy:

They never asked how old I was and I never told. I would play music at night in the bar and during the day I would take food to people's rooms. One day the door opened and the hand that reached out to take the food belonged to Gordon Lightfoot. I still remember the $5 tip he gave me  Thanks Mr. LIghtfoot. Thanks for the five bucks and thanks for the music. Happy to still be performing your tunes.
