Pixel Perfect Homework - Photoshop Layer Masks - My Girl Ellie Bear
I have been learning about layer masks as per the recent Pixel homework and was playing around with an image of one of my girls, Ellie-Bear.
To view the images in full screen, right click the image and open in a new tab...
I am going to talk you through my learning process with a few screenshots of how I created the final image. There may be better ways of doing what I have done, but you have to remember I am new to photoshop.
This was the original image I stared with...
First of all, I selected Ellie and made her into a layer mask.
I then duplicated the layer and flipped the new one upside down, placing it underneath the original cutout to make a reflection.
My canvas size was too small so I had to enlarge it to fit everything on.
I then created a Black rectangle shape for the background.
Remembering to highlight the reflection layer, I faded part of the image using the gradient tool to make it look more realistic. I also dropped the opacity of the reflection to 70%.
Finally, a little bit of tidying up, cropping to the correct size, selecting my border and adding the watermark... et voila! We have the final image!

Thank you all for visiting! I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial.
Much love, Cheryl & Ellie-Bear xx
