Seaside Seagull - ExtraOrdinary Oregon
I spent a few minutes trying to identify this gull, but was unsuccessful. Seagulls are notoriously difficult to ID especially if it seems to be between two stages as this gull seems to be - molting into adult plumage or into winter plumage, I'm not sure. I'm actually thinking of the Mew Gull, but that's just a guess.
I saw this bird in Seaside, Oregon, very near the Seaside Aquarium. The bird was just sitting there in the sand - a bit late for nesting and, again, the lack of adult plumage makes me think it's simply resting... but maybe not. In any case, this seagull sat there nicely to have its photo taken.
The top image is simply a crop of the lower image. I liked them both.
Below, as I got closer to the bird. These ones are "color enhanced" - maybe slightly overdone, but I like the overall effect.
