Here my entry for the #monochromemonday photochallenge.

In 2005 my father died of lung cancer. He fell ill in 2003 and after 15 chemotherapy and radiation to the metastases in his brain, he had to give up the fight. It was an unequal battle that we actually knew immediately that he could not win. But in the time of his illness, and in the years that followed ... to this day I have always said "He has fought like a lion".

And not just my father. But also my mother, in her way she has fought like a lioness. She also fought an unfair battle, not against cancer, but against COPD. In 2007 she had to give up the fight.

They are together again ... and now I have said that I have always used the lion as a symbol for both my father and my mother. Is this photo that I made in Beekse Bergen in Safaripark all the more striking.

The photo have given me a real emotional meaning since I made it.
