Elephant Sanctuary Hazyview - Lionsclub South-Africa; Making a Girls Dream a Reality

A while back the Lions Club International contacted the Lions-club in Tzaneen and asked if they would host a German exchange student who wanted to travel South-Africa, shortly after arrangements were made for her travels to Africa. She stayed in Limpopo ~ Tzaneen for a bit over a week and then continued her travels to Durban and Cape town South Africa where she was hosted by other families who are also members of the South African Lions Club.

During her stay in Limpopo she was taken to visit the Elephant Sanctuary in Hazyview:

The Elephant Sanctuary is an institution that offers individuals an interactive elephant experience as well as elephant back riding. This is a once in a lifetime experience because you get to interact with the great African elephants in a unique “hands on” way, they prefer to take small groups in order to keep the experience intimate and personal.
I am a firm believer that education is the first step to conservation, and in that way the Elephant Sanctuary truly does its part for conservation.
They have a brilliant team of dedicated staff that is committed to the use of positive reinforcement elephant training methods, this ensures that they Elephants have just as much fun with their human interactions as the guests do, while living in a happy wholesome environment.
feel free to visit their website for more information

What is the Lionsclub?

The Lionsclub is an international organisation with more than 1.4 million members worldwide whos aim is set on improving their local communities.
The Lions motto is "We Serve."
This community program reaches out to numerous projects in their area such as
• sight conservation
• hearing and speech conservation
• diabetes awareness
• youth outreach
• international relations
• environmental issues
• and many other programs.
One thing that I love about the Lionsclub is that they are not bound to a political or religious aspect and all their projects are thus done with a neutral equilibrium at heart.
