A beautiful pink mosque is the hottest tourist attraction in the poor Southern Philippine province of Maguindanao.

The mosque, called Masjid Dimaukom, was unveiled before the start of the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan last 2014, and has gained the admiration from Muslims and social media fanatics.

According to the late Datu Saudi Ampatuan town Mayor Samsudin Dimaukom (town mayor from 2013-2016), who paid for the building of the beautiful mosque on his family's property in the town, he and his wife chose to paint the mosque a vibrant pink as the color symbolizes peace and love.

The late town mayor revealed that pink was also his favorite color. In fact, he made pink the color of Datu Saudi's town municipal hall and other government buildings.

"We did some research. The color pink represents compassion, nurturing and love. It also relates to unconditional love and understanding, and the giving and receiving of nurturing. It could also mean love for God, country and to one's fellow man." he was quoted in an earlier report.

Another fact is that the pink mosque was built by Christian workmen to symbolize unity and inter-faith brotherhood.

Masjid Dimaukom isn't the only pink mosque in the world - Malaysia has its Masjid Putra, while Iran has the Nasir al-Mulk mosque.
