Ozone layer hole: Learn about it

We all heard about the ozone layer. The ozone layer is a layer which protects us from ultraviolet rays of sunlight. The ozone layer is found in the atmosphere of the earth. It is nearly 20 Km thick layer on the stratosphere. Stratosphere is a part of the atmosphere.

Ozone is a highly effective gas. When ultraviolet rays of sunlight come from Sun towards earth, it breaks the oxygen molecules which is situated on the stratosphere into atoms. Oxygen atom creates ozone by reacting other oxygen molecules.

O+O2=O3

Because of activeness and effectiveness ozone dissolute Nitrous Oxide. The ozone layer is useful for earth which prevents ultraviolet rays to reach to earth. That protect animals and plants form that fatal rays.

O3+Cl ----O2+Clo

ClO+O----- O2+Cl

When the availability of Cloro fluorocarbon, chlorine, bromine, halones and carbon tetrachloride compound increased in the atmosphere then they started harming the Ozone layer. Chlorine atom makes chlorin mono oxide and leaves oxygen.

Again chlorine mono oxide reacts with oxygen and creates oxygen and chlorine. Then that chlorine again makes reaction with ozone and make oxygen and chlorine mono oxide. This process is continuing and it makes harm to the atmosphere. An atom of Chlorine breaks 0.1 million molecules of ozone.

Hole in ozone layer gets known in 1973 by the scientist of America above Antarctica. In 1985, Josef foreman found the 50% harm in the ozone layer.
Because of ozone layer hole ultraviolet, rays come directly from earth and which causes many of disease. It makes an adverse effect on chlorophyll of trees.

Stopping the harm of ozone layer only can be done by controlling the compounds of chlorine and fluorine called choloro floor carbon, helones, carbon tetrachloride.
