So! @MandelSage and I were chatting on a Friday night about a million things not that long ago. @PoeticSnake was quietly curled up in the corner with one eye open trying to stay awake and pretty much anesthetized by the boyconvo going on and on and on. That gurl needs some gurl support in there lol. (@AnyaEhrim...yah yah I know you had a ‘special event’ to go to lol yay warpaint) <---Remember that? LOL

Towards the end of our get together we kind of passed around a few movie ideas for each other to watch and the rule was simple. Watch the suggested movie cold turkey. No trailers, reviews, rotten tomatoes etc. A clean, pure, first time experience. I love those because they are a once in a lifetime experience, and only repeatable by doing something like that again on blind faith, and being content with the not knowing.

My project movie from Mandel was Amélie starring Audrey Toutou. One of the things I love is looking into the background and other work that artists of all kinds do. I particularly love it when I discover people who have unrelated passions and are competent or even experts in other fields.

In this case, I simply wanted to enjoy the movie and look for any cool little connections among the cast to other movies I may like or know. Amélie, in this case, was fairly sparse due to the nearly all french cast, however there were a few gems to be gleaned from this one.

Eureka!! I struck GOLD!! One of the most important finds for me was based on a thought that I often have. When I see an actor or actress in a movie that I love, I very often find myself wondering what they will look like when they are older. In this case I didn’t have to wonder very long.

Although I was completely unfamiliar with Amélie the movie, the lead actress Audrey Tautau had caught my eye in a different movie I saw her in. If the question were, I wonder if Audrey Tautau will still be beautiful in five years or fifteen years, the answer lies in her co-starring roles in The DaVinci Code opposite Tom Hanks and in 2016’s The Odyssey.

She is beyond beautiful. She is a miraculous creature with her own bioluminescent quality. Lovely beyond measure, frank and honest in real life, humble and more attractive for all those qualities.

This is supposed to be a kind of review of the movie Amélie but for me this is the review. Amélie is not everyone’s cup of tea, especially if you don’t like reading subtitles because you don’t understand french fluently. For me, to watch a movie with subtitles it would take a perfect set of circumstances such as this. A recommendation from a trusted friend who is reciprocating by watching my recommendation without question also. Which in this case was Kill Me Three Times for Mandel starring Simon Pegg who I adore as an actor.

One of the absolute treasures that I discovered in this movie was Amélie’s love interest, Nino, played by Mathieu Kassovitz. He played a very small part in one of my all time favourite movies, The Fifth Element. He plays a mugger who tries to rob Bruce Willis. It was such a tiny, but hysterical part of the movie and I always look forward to his little bit, especially when he does his little dance. I wonder if that was impromptu. It sure looks like it!

Well, @MandelSage, I loved it. It took me a few minutes to get into it, but it definitely has an endearing place in my heart as a high quality piece of work that is extremely well written, directed, shot and acted. It is complex with many moving parts and holds a mystery that we all could only hope for. I think anyone would love to be lightly stalked by Amélie as her love interest!

Have a wonderful day!
