Sick And Tired Of False Promises And Unreal Expectations...Fight Back in The Most Ethical Way You Can...It May Not be What You Think! 馃檲 馃檳 馃檴 AKA Nuclear Powere Razor Blades...

This is a slight departure for me as all my posts are massively focussed on self improvement of late and I wanted to just feel free to write something loose and fun today. You know that a moral and something to ponder will likely rear it's head by the time we hit the bottom of the page though!

Oh you know what I meant as soon as you read that title, right?

In recent times life has become a combination of 24 hour exaggerated fake news, false promises, government hyped propaganda from unscrupulous leaders who couldn't even lead a horse to water.

The advertising agencies tell us that we are too fat to live a happy life
So buy our product and you too could lose 1200 kilos in just 26 minutes...

The razorblade companies tell us that this new best shave ever double cut, titanium nuclear powered blade is so much better than that terrible jagged stone-blade they were selling us last month. The real irony of course is that when we bought that one it was described as their
Best shave ever!!! :open_mouth:

Celebrities condescendingly smirk at us from the covers of glossy magazines as if to say, you must be so depressed that you're not as beautiful as me. BUT if we flick through to page 7 we see a double page spread of the newly launched cosmetics brand that they have put their name too...The irony here is that you probably bought the same cosmetics many times before at a fraction of the new price before their name and face was stuck atop the lid.

As a side note...Have you ever seen those same beautiful celebrities in actual daylight...Ughh...Their make up is usually so damn thick that if stops them being able to show any actual facial expression. Remember too that when it comes to beauty, no amount of foundation, concealer and lipstick can disguise the ugliness that resides inside...

When we walk along the high-street we are constantly assaulted by bright glaring claims that exclaim

  • Best ever recipe.
  • Zero fat.
  • Our healthiest ever choice.
  • 46% better than our closest competitor.
  • Works indoors or outdoors.
  • Non slip.
  • Ultra stick.

This morning our car was covered in an unusually thick frost and my lovely lady pulled out the de-icer spray which proclaimed on the tin works in temperatures as low as -5 she was using it whilst the temperature was -3 and it was instantly freezing on the windscreen.

So what? whats your point Steven? You're droning on again, stop rambling!

OK Dear reader...I shall get to the point. Well it is simply this, if we had bought the de-icer and it had frozen to the window, we would realise that the car would need to warm slightly for it to take full-effect...But no! they blatantly lied, made a false claim right there on the tin. Surely that cannot be right, can it?

The hyperglobalmegacorps keep on lying...we keep buying...

But what can we really do? well as I see it we have 3 obvious courses of action.

  • We can accept it, keep doing what we've always done, lies are integral part of the system nowadays, right?
  • We can write a strongly worded E-mail...Great idea, it's about as effective as devouring a bag of sugar each day to cure your tooth decay! ((Have they made that claim yet?))
  • We can take our money away, will that really bother a company with millions each year to spend on ad revenue? Probably not, but it will make us feel better that we don't fund their dishonest overinflated claims any more, right? Try and find a independent retailer with a product that is similar. Maybe back this up with a social media review of their garbage lie-ridden advertising for their poxy product.

Truth be told, one person removing their money from a company will not have any real effect, but I live in hope that enough other people become wise to this and act in a similar fashion. Maybe mankind becomes more sophisticated and discerning, right?

But there is one other way we can affect real and lasting change. It is simple in nature but in my opinion has such potential to spread to others like a virus of positivity. We can hold ourselves to the very highest standards imaginable. We can live each day seeking out win/win scenarios when dealing with others. I/m sure we all understand the concept of a transaction where there are no losers, both parties receive the value that they were seeking. Movies and TV have falsely taught us that business can only be carried out in an edgy cut-throat manner, where everybody tries to screw over the other party before they get screwed over. hey why don't we teach our kids this stuff, right? Maybe it will teach them to have that oh-so-important competitive edge...I know another principle that we could apply to business, family life, with colleagues or friends.

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you."

We're all pretty familiar with the concept, right?

  • Do you practice it every day?
  • Is it one of your core values?
  • Is it reflected in your unquestionable integrity and unshakeable character?
  • When asked, would others say this is how you live your life?

These could be some of the most important questions you will ever answer about just who you are! Make sure that your legacy is filled with all the right answers.

I am not perfect either, I doubt any of us will ever achieve the nirvana-like quality of being a perfect human, I think being human is a flawed start anyway. But if asked, I know many people would speak highly of my character and how true I am to my beliefs and how I view and interact with others. This is one of the things that bring me the most self-pride in my life. I can be miserable sometimes, I can moan a bit and get annoyed and frustrated like anyone else but I know that I am a pretty decent guy and I promise you, that is worth a million in the bank...It may not seem like if you live in a desperate situation, but trust me at the end of your life you will look back and understand this point implicitly.

Notice that I didn't say I didn't want a million in the bank? I believe it is very achievable to remain true to your highest values and become wealthy too. There is an additional question that needs to be asked at this stage...

If you had the million what would you do with it? Maybe that could answer a few more of those who are you kinda questions above.

But that, my friends is a question for another day and another post.
