FIRE - A VERY USEFUL TOOL AROUND HERE

This time, it's helping to deter scavengers.

After a recent deer harvest, there were still leftovers as usual. With CWD a potential threat, it's advised not to use the bones from the deer, so bone broths are out of the question at the moment. That said, the "carcass" still needs to be disposed of, and hopefully in a way that will not attract coyotes, vultures, raccoons, or others on the "carcass cleanup crew." This is where fire comes in.

By making a hot fire with woods like cedar, the fire actually gets hot enough to burn up the bones too. By the time the fire is done, anything left can just be crumbled into a powder with your hand, which then will get added to the raised beds along with the wood ash. As usual, it's hard for me to choose favorites, so here's a whole pile of fire photos! Enjoy!
