Internet - WWW (5) (NL/EN)

Deel 3
Deel 4

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
Part 4

Anyone who has read the previous posts knows that most internet and/or network protocols have already been discussed.
Much too technical for most of us, but it was mainly to show that there is much more to be found on the internet than what the regular search engines presents you.
There are some things I haven't touched on yet, which I think are much bigger than what has been touched on in the previous posts...

One of those things is what is called the deep web.
The deep web are all parts of the internet that are not accessible through search engines, including databases, intranets, email, cloud, secure sites etc... So the vast majority of Whaleshares are in that space.
In other words, don't panic when I talk about the deep web...

Another part, not as big as the deep web, is the dark web.
The dark web is a part of the internet that is not indexed by search engines and can only be accessed through special software, such as The Onion Router (Tor). The dark web is anonymous and is often used for illegal activities, such as the trade in prohibited goods and services, hacking and online fraud. It sounds a bit more terrifying than the deep web, but due to its great anonymity it is also used by journalists and lawyers to communicate with each other or with their clients, or the possibility to contact the CIA, completely anonymously.
Facebook and Twitter even have a mirror site on it.

And finally there is the immense, and still growing IOT (Internet of Things) which I don't immediately know to which part to classify this, my gut feeling quickly says "deep web", but I'm not sure.

So dear readers, we've come to the end of a rather nerdy series. Hopefully it was of some use to you (?) For me it was certainly a long search in which many questions were answered, but unfortunately even more questions were added.
Thanks for making it this far.
