Herbs Are Dried: Time To Store Them Away

The herbs I harvested about a month ago have completely dried up from hanging over my kitchen gardening table, so this morning I stored them away for use over the winter months.

Dried sage, lemon balm and mint

  • Sage- I use this in so many seasoning mixes and it is a great accompaniment to season pork and chicken. It adds such a hearty and robust flavor and brings a little taste of the holiday season to dinners. Every so often for a change up, I'll add one sage leaf to my sweet tea; just the right amount of wonderful flavoring.
  • Lemon balm- I use this in my herbal teas and lacto-fermented sodas and I share a lot of the lemon with my mom who has been using the herb in her morning tea; since using the lemon balm she has stopped taking her diuretic (doctor prescribed)
  • Mint Same as above. I just LOVE the essence of mint. And the flavor it adds to iced tea and brewed sweet tea is AMAZING!

I had hung these in my kitchen about 3-4 weeks ago and they are completely dried out. They easily came off the stems as I crumbled or pulled the scented herbs off.
