Hello to you!
It is March 8th, and for my Diary Personality of the Day, I would pay tribute to Anne Bonny who made a lot of waves during her time.
So, in this post I get to write about the very strange, infamous, and yet, phenomenal lady who was popular in the early 18th century for negative reasons.

For a lady to be notorious for a crime mostly committed by the male folks – sea piracy – then such a lady is certainly a phenom, without my trying to overstate things.
Anne Bonny was a female pirate who was popular for her activities in the Caribbean Sea in the early 18th century.
Born in Ireland, the Irish-American was quite infamous and known alongside Mary Read who was her crew member, at the time.
Both Anne Bonny and Mary Read were known as the only female pirates who were notoriously active in the Western world.
For all her notorious activities, Anne Bonny had to deal with the attention of authorities, the press, as well as authors of her time, for her rather obnoxious and daring lifestyle.
Her piracy career was quite brief, but in that time she made a name for herself as one of the most famous and notorious sea pirates in her days.
According to records and reports, she never really captained a ship of her own, but still, her being a pirate – and a female one, made so many headlines.
Her popularity in a Western society which frowned at women becoming more active socially, as against their normal feminine duties and roles, made the case of Anne Bonny more iconic.

Anne Bonny’s career as a pirate was laden with a lot of notoriety and she left a legacy of some sort, as the world’s most iconic female pirate.
Major details of her life and activities are quite scarce and uncommon, even her exact birthday and place of rest, after her death remain unclear till this day.
The most records and details of her life can only be found in Captain Charles Johnson’s book “A General History of the Robberies and Murders of the most notorious Pyrates.”
There are lots of conflicting reports as to what eventually happened to Anne Bonny. She was known to have had a child, but left him to return to piracy.
She was also thought to have been arrested and imprisoned at some point, and was sentenced to be executed.
However, no clear details as to what became of the legendary female pirate of the western world can be accounted for in full.
