Hey Adventurers,

You may have noticed lately I have been starting to slowly branch out from my Adventures in Travel & Photography series.

I've had great feedback over the last few months on that series so if you are a follower don't fear.. I'll still be continuing that! I have hundreds of adventures to share!

Some of you may have picked up that I also have an interest in health and wellness, especially when it comes to natural and alternative medicines. Now I'm not about to start diagnosing and telling people to hop of their medication or if they go Keto (which we are a fan of) they will lose 50 kgs in a flash. Everyone is different and their ailments are different and the solutions that work for them are going to be different. All I can do is share my own experience along this path and encourage others to educate themselves about their health and well-being.

I have done certifications in different energy healing modalities, diploma in Nutrition, certificates in Massage and am currently doing an Advanced Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy. - Just to be transparent about any "perceived" expertise!

From that, you may gather that Essential Oils are a particular area of interest. So I thought I might start my new series with a bit about why hubby and I are walking this path!

Scott and I are kind of outdoorsy type of people! We love nature and all it has to offer. And that’s one of the reasons we developed an interest – which turned into a passion – for essential oils.

Over the years, like most people, we’ve had our share of ups and downs, and the day to day stresses that come with everyday modern life. And every now and then some of those major stresses that just get thrown at you and knock you for six.

We were first introduced to essential oils around 18 years ago while I was doing a Diploma of Energetic Healing. I was amazed at just how many more uses there were for essential oils apart from diffusing them and using in massage oil.

Over the years, though, life got in the way we used oils only sporadically in the house. It was not until a few years later after a hectic career working for large multinational tech companies and long commutes for almost 20 years were taking their toll, that we decided to investigate oils once more. We needed to do something about becoming more balanced, mentally, spiritually and physically.

I found I was able to use oils in so many aspects of my health -whether it was a supplement in my food or water, to boost metabolism, balance hormones, simply to feel good by diffusing beautiful aromas, to help the physical healing process eg blisters, mild burns, insect bites, homemade cleaning products to reduce chemicals.. the list goes on.

In fact, it was the pursuit of a more whole-foods primal based diet that we came across the use of essential oils in food. This prompted us to investigate high-quality food and therapeutic grade oils. And this is how we discovered dōTERRA, which is the particular brand we use - though I know there are a number of other brands of equal quality and similar selection and costs...

(Disclaimer - For the sake of transparency -We are dōTERRA affiliates, however, the purpose of this series is purely for educational purposes. You are welcome to use any oil brands you choose or even decide it's not really your thing.. I'm all cool... I'm about the free flow of information!)

Things kind of snowballed from there and now we find ways to use essential oils in our daily routines. We use oils for cooking, home-made natural cleaning products, supporting our immune system and general well-being, beauty care. There’s not much where we can’t find a use for these fabulous gifts of nature.

Our favourite oils and blends come with us everywhere we go – whether its a trip down the street or an adventure to far off places.

We are so passionate about the difference they’ve made in my life that we want to share them with you. There are so many amazing ways to use oils, we hope you come to love them as much as we do.

And well just because it seems right.. and it's summer... I'll share my favourite blend burning in my diffuser right now!
