I have been trying very hard not to get caught up in the whole corona virus pandemic. But it is hard to get away from it. My family have been sending me messages, mainly jokes I might add, about it, up until today that is. Now it seems Ireland is beginning to shut down.

The jokes have now stopped coming from my family and instead, I have been send pictures of the food and toilet roll that they have been stocking up on.

I refuse to get stressed about it though and have been trying to reply to these messages in a positive way. But I also know that when some one is panicking, the worse thing you can say to them is everything will be okay. Mainly because they take it as a personal insult and that you are not taking them seriously.
We are such complex and sensitive creatures. We tend to take things to heart way too quickly and feel like any disagreement is an attack on our person.

My family know me though, they know how I treat myself and my girls that I don't use modern medicine and most importantly that I don't watch television. So I have no real idea about the propaganda that has been thrown at them. I can imagine though, I have seen some footage of people fighting over toilet rolls and stores getting emptied.
This really goes to show you the power of the media.

Of how much fear they can instill, by the words they choose to use and the manner in which they engage with the public. I believe that there is something far greater here at play and that this virus is just a smoke screen, but for what, well that's anyone's guess.

What I can see though, is that it is a great way in which to control the public. Especially controlling movement , preventing lots of people gathering together and in affect keeping folk secluded from one another. What happens when we can not go out, when we are told to stay indoors, well we just continue to get bombarded by more propaganda, instilling more fear.
This is going to affect our mental health more, than our physical health.

We are social creatures, who like to mingle and be around others, even if it is just at a park, in a shopping centre. It is a basis need of ours and a right I might add. Putting these restrictions on us, really affects our freedom of movement and yet no one is batting an eyelid it seems.

The virus now seems to be in every country, and although people have lost their lives, it is no more that any other flu. So why these restrictions, why are people being told to stay in their homes.

I am really interested to see how all of this plays out. My biggest concerns, are really about the amount of chemicals that are not being rolled out to keep people sanitized. Chemicals that are toxic to both us and the environment. There are alternatives of course, but not many are using them. On top of that are the trees that are going to be turned into toilet paper, just to keep up with the crazy demands.
How interesting that a few weeks ago, we thought that people were finally waking up about the affects that we have had on the environment, only to suddenly forget all of that and rush out to buy toxic products that kill everything, not just germs. Maybe things were going a bit too green there for a while, so those in power decided to intervene.

Cos business always has to come first. We can't have folk becoming more conscious consumers, I mean what would that do for the economic well being of the world. There has to be a show of power from those who like to rule, to remind us how much we really need their governance.
Interesting times indeed, perhaps they are feeling a little threaten.

I just hope people remember to turn off their screens and go outside and feel the sun on their faces and breathe! I hope, that they remember that we have been through tougher times than these and that so many other countries around the world, have to deal with things that are much worst than this on a daily basis.

I really hope that this fear does not cause more segregation and that we can see past it and remember to support and look after one another.
