To donate my hair a life experience

The long hair has always liked to use because I consider a symbol of femininity, pitifully motivated to problems with the fall of my hair I decided to cut it much more than I always do.

In my search for reasons to feel better about myself, I found the "María Kallay" Foundation, which produces wigs free of charge for girls undergoing oncology treatment, that's when I made an important decision.

I went to my trusted hairdresser and told her about my plans to donate my hair, for that I needed to cut 30 centimeters of hair, so she got to work, washed my hair, combed it and tied it with a garter. She measured my hair with a tape measure and cut it with scissors, that's how after having the hair at the waist I went to have it up to the shoulders.

I went in person to give my donation to the foundation, the person in charge of the workshop received me, he showed me the wig factory, it caught my attention to see that only men work there, they are in charge of operating the machines and making handmade hair implants, he made a demonstration for me.

With a knitting needle he takes a natural hair, passes it through a tulle mesh and secures it to the fabric with a knot, I was impressed to see that they repeated these steps for each hair as many times as necessary to complete an implant, is a job that takes a lot of time, dedication and patience.

The donated locks are placed in a plastic box, when they placed my hair in that box I felt as if in seconds of many years of dedication and dedication invested in the care of my hair. It was a strange mixture of indescribable feelings, both bad and good, a knot in my throat and the desire to cry, I don't know the reasons for that reaction if my intentions were the best.

The change in my physical appearance was noticeable and people always asked me: - why did you cut it so much? and when I tell them that it was a donation for the girls with cancer their faces change completely, they become tender, they congratulate me and there are those who want to follow my example.

This small action brought me great satisfaction, inspiring other people was a consequence, helping others leaving aside personal interests is something that in my opinion we should practice a little more, I put my grain of sand and other people can also join.

Would you do it again? - The answer is yes! Because giving the best of me was an unparalleled experience.
