Gridcoin - Weekly project update (wk41)

last month

Every week I provide the most up-to-date statistics related to Gridcoin (GRC) earnings for whitelisted projects.

On Mondays the information is gathered from BOINCStats and CoinMarketCap, after which I calculate the earnings in GRC and USD for systems with a RAC of 1000. Further details can be found in the definitions section below.

Individual project developments

The tables below contain four indicators, presenting the project development over a period of one week, one month, three months and one year.

Gridcoin project charts

The charts below provide the longer-term trends for active user development, team contribution to the BOINC network overall and the whitelisted projects.

(Data source: BOINCStats and CoinMarketCap)

  • Recent Average RAC = The total amount of RAC produced by all systems within the Gridcoin network.
  • Team RAC vs Overall RAC % = The proportion of RAC output team Gridcoin has produced as part of the overall RAC for the project.
  • GRC per 1k system RAC = The amount of GRC you will receive for a system per 1000 RAC points. Example: You have a system which is running [email protected] with a RAC value of 3500. According to the chart on 24-Sep, you should gain 3.5 x 0.32 GRC = 1.12 GRC per day for this system.
  • USD per 1k system RAC = The amount of USD you will receive for a system per 1000 RAC points. Example: You have a system which is running [email protected] with a RAC of 4700. According to the chart on 24-Sep, you should gain 4.7 x $0.0117= $0.055 per day for this system.

Gridcoin is an open source cryptocurrency (Ticker: GRC) which securely rewards volunteer computing performed upon the BOINC platform in a decentralized manner on top of proof of stake.

BOINC (Berkeley Open Infrastructure for Network Computing) is a distributed Internet platform launched beginning of 2002 and rewards participants with credits for performed work. BOINC is an application available for multiple Operating Systems and utilises the unused CPU and GPU cycles on computers to perform scientific work.

Great work, keep these up!

Do you think there would be value in predicted the flow of computing power between projects over time using machine learning? Say for more competitive crunching?

Thanks @customminer, will continue to provide this information.

You have an interesting question. I'm not sure how you would be able to predict the flow but in case you could do it, this would indeed be very useful to move your systems in advance to exploit the benefit of the delayed RAC build-up/decline.

Personally I know the (calculated) RAC per project for my own system (just one laptop :D) and can change between projects, using the charts above, to optimise the GRC earnings.

As final comment, it would be interesting for users who just want to optimise their output to have an tool that just selects the projects for them. Maybe using the BOINC account manager in combination with an approach like WUProp could help in this.

Do you know if gridcoin is going to go to a high staking reward soon that was voted on? I believe 10 GRC per stake ?

I don't know the actual time scale but it is currently being tested in the test environment so they are making progress.
