The Best Of E3 2018 - Part Two

Time for round two of the best games from E3, and I'm pretty excited about some of these.

The Electronic Entertainment Expo was held last week and for those of you who don't know, it is the biggest annul gaming expo in the world. Basically it is the showcase for the hardware manufacturers, software developers, and publishers from the video game industry presenting new and upcoming products to the public. Yes, this is what we gaming nerds look forward to all year, just to get a glimpse of what we can expect to come in the near future. Each year the attendance just get bigger and bigger, this year they had about 70,000 people attend the expo in Los Angeles, not to mention being streamed live over multiple online platforms with millions watching at home. Below is a short list of the top developers who have conferences a day or two before the even to showcase their best and brightest.

  • Electronic Arts
  • Microsoft XBox
  • Bethesda
  • Square Enix
  • Ubisoft
  • Sony PlayStation
  • Nintendo

I have decided to break from my usual game review format to give you guys a little sneak peek of some of my favorite picks from E3. I would also like to emphasize that these are my personal top picks, the games I thought stood out the most and which intrigued me, so there might be a few I am not going to mention. Also due to there being such a huge amount of epic games that were mentioned in the conferences, I will be doing a two part series for this. The first part of this series, which I wrote about last week was of the more interesting games at E3, but these are the games I can't wait to get my hands on. There are some pretty amazing titles and a few you have most probably seen or mentioned before.

Beyond Good & Evil 2

Fans have been waiting for what feels like almost forever for Ubisoft’s long-in-development Beyond Good & Evil 2, which is actually a prequel to the 2003 cult classic. Last year at E3 it was announced and this year it made another appearance with an epic new cinematic trailer, along with a really short demo of gameplay footage. What we do know is that the much loved characters Jade and Pey’j from the original game will be making a return in this game. There’s not much to go on other than what they showed and certainly no release date as of yet. Hopefully Ubisoft’s final game can even come close to matching the scale of the trailers, we could be in for something spectacular but we just need to keep being patient for the time being. We speculate that the game will be launched on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, as nothing as been confirmed.

Spider-Man

There is only just over two more months of waiting left for the highly anticipated Marvel's Spider-Man game, which is being developed by the folks at Insomniac Games. This is finally Marvel's chance to bring the fans a great super hero game that is able to compete with DC's Batman Arkham Knight series. We got a much closer look at the gameplay, and how the combat and web-swinging will mesh together to bring the superhero to life. Insomniac is also bringing us a brand new story for our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, which is not tied to the comic books or any of the films or multiple reboots. We can expect this to hit the shelves by 7 September 2018.

Anthem

A game where you get to be Tony Stark, sign me up right now. This armored-suit open world, massively multiplayer action role playing game looks gorgeous, with stunning open space environments for players to explore with their Iron Man styled suits. This was the very first game review I wrote on the Steemit blockchain for Adsactly blog over seven months ago, and I feel I've been improving ever since. Anthem is only set for release in February next year 2019, yes we have been waiting for this bad boy for a really long time. We got to have a really in depth look at the more intricate parts of the game, like joining gameplay with friends and a great run down of the four different kinds of Javelin exosuit you can choose from, which makes things a lot more versatile depending on what missions you need to complete. The suits and all accompanying gear, weapons, and equipment, can be extensively customized and personalized to suit each player. Anthem will be available across all platforms, Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Cyberpunk 2077

After years of waiting, award winning Witcher developer CD Projekt Red has finally released another look at its highly anticipated upcoming science fiction game, Cyberpunk 2077. There has to date been no actual gameplay, which is what everyone at E3 was hoping for, but the trailer shows the gorgeous futuristic metropolis of Night City, that will be the setting of the game. We’re also introduced to the customizable, robot looking player character named V, a hired gun or futuristic detective. Cyberpunk 2077 was originally announced in May 2012 and the first teaser trailer was released a year later, which actually won an award for best video trailer. The developer seem to be looking at a release date of just before Christmas of 2018, and will be available across all platforms.

Ghost of Tsushima

The Infamous series developer, Sucker Punch finally gave us some much awaited gameplay from their latest production, which was reveled last year at E3, Ghost of Tsushima. They showed off some gorgeous looking combat and stealth mechanics which is set in a stunning environment, the hills and forests of old Japan. The game really looks amazing from what we have seen so far, it made me think of the first Anime I ever watched, Ninja Scroll. I love the whole idea of a lone samurai with only his trusty katana in hand on a journey of honor. This is going to be a PlayStation exclusive title by the looks of it, and unfortunately there has been no word of a release date, but hopefully later next year. I am definitely looking forward to this Ghost of Tsushima, and will be pre-ordering it.

The Last of Us Part II

Naughty Dog’s acclaimed series is back with an in depth extended look at the upcoming sequel to The Last of Us. This game is what Sony opened with at their E3 conference, I was a little shocked when I saw that they had hired, what looked like a small school hall for the presentation. Turns out this was all done to draw the crowd present at the conference into the game, when the trailer starts, it is set in an almost identical small hall. The demo is seriously impressive, and it gives players a look at how stealth and survival will blend together in what was an incredible cinematic experience. Players step back into the shoes of Ellie, who was the main playable character in the last game. The developer have seriously push the capabilities what games can do with this one, the opening trailer cinematic scene is probably the most realistic I have ever seen in a game. This was most definitely the best game from all of E3, and this is another PlayStation exclusive with no release date that I am aware of.
