Manchester City moved into the top 3 for the first time this season with the win against Brighton. It looked to be an easy one for City from the onset but it was more than City bargained for.

As expected, City dominated possession and controlled all the aspect of the game with Brighton contented with defending so the margin won't be too wide. If they had attacked a bit early as they did towards the closing stages of the game, maybe they would have gotten something out of the game.

De Bruyne was instrumental in deciding this game as he was all over the place even with missed chances.

Kevin De Bruyne assisted the first and the only goal of the night when he gave a delightful pass to Foden who expertly scored with a perfectly placed shot and that solitary goal was enough for a win.

De Bruyne fluffed his lines many times and Mahrez too when he miskicked his effort and hit the side net instead of putting the ball at the back of the net.

De Bruyne had a chance saved from a brilliant counter-attack and when you start missing chances like this, you'd think it would come back to bite them in the end but they were lucky not to fall victim of that due to many missed chances.

Fernando Silva thought he had gotten the second goal of the night only to be denied by the bar.

City got another opportunity to add to their solitary goal when Brighton's goalkeeper brought down Kevin in the box. The regular penalty taker is Kevin and it was surprising to see him pass the opportunity to Sterling who missed by a wide margin. He blasted his effort far wide, above and not handsome. That's the 3rd miss for Sterling from the spot this season.

Maybe if the game had stood at 0-0, maybe Kevin would have been forced to take it himself but considering the game is practically over, maybe that was why he allowed Sterling to take it.

Pep said after the game that Kevin was too tired which was why Sterling took it. That excuse doesn't sit well with me because no one passes up an opportunity to score from the penalty. Maybe it was a generous offer to Sterling or something else, no one knows but the good thing is, they won and wouldn't have to rue any missed chances.
