Saturday is here again and we all know what it means for those who love and are passionate about football/soccer. As expected, premier league actions continues and today is matchday 23. Chelsea who have found a little bit of form recently will be going up against Newcastle away at the St James’ Park as they aim for back-to-back premier league wins.

Newcastle are not in a good form at the moment, their last 4 games have seen them earn only a point, however, their last fixture was definitely an improvement from the 3 losses in a row prior to that. They are currently sitting 13th on the table and stand a great chance of going above Arsenal depending on their result at home later today. Finishing in the top half of the table would be a great achievement for them this season, however, with the difficulty this season as shown, securing their place in the premier league remains the ultimate goal.

Newcastle will be expected to set up in a 5-4-1 formation. They like to be physical on the ball and to frustrate the opponent, especially the top sides. Their gameplan will most likely be to stay very defensive and on a low block while keeping their eyes on counter-attacking opportunities and set-piece prowess to cause the Blues problems at home.

Chelsea have been faced with a lot of ups and downs this season, most especially their home form which has been nothing but poor, however, their away form have been really good, making up for some of the poor results they’ve gotten at home in games they were expected to win. However, some of the teams below them haven’t been great either which has given them the time and space to try to get things right and find the much-needed consistency to push for top 4 finish this season. The Blues have found it difficult to get back-to-back wins for a while now and will be aiming for yet another crucial 3 points when the go head-to-head against Newcastle, to help them put them in an even better situation, especially when they know that Man United will have to face Liverpool this Sunday.

Chelsea will be looking to set up in their usual 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 formation. They are going up against a team that will be fighting to get things right, so this will most likely be a very difficult game for them. However, they have done pretty well away from home this season and will be hoping to carry on that away form into this game. Knowing that Newcastle might set up to frustrate and counter-attack, they will try to be very solid at the back and also try to limit giving away chances that might hurt them in the game. They have the qualities when it comes to attacking and will be hoping that they are able to take their chances as they come to avoid what has happened in some of their past premier league fixtures.
