馃挏 Carlucci's Deli at Meerendal Wine Farm - 馃挏 Restaurant Review 馃挏
This past Saturday, @morkrock and I visited Meerendal Wine Farm, which is just outside of Durbanville in Cape Town. It was our friend's birthday, and we hadn't seen in her in so long. It was a typical January day here in CT. Verrry hot, and verrrry windy.
At Meerendal, there are two restaurants - Crown, which is a bit more upmarket, and Carlucci's, which is a deli, and the restaurant we ate at.
It's a typical wine farm setup, with a tasting area, restaurant and hotel. I would not rate it too highly, compared to the other wine farms in the area, but the food was tasty and the setting quite idyllic.
I peeked into the original farm house, as there were no guests. It's pretty and quite modernized.
My friend had booked a table next to the kiddies play area, and honestly, those kids were loving life. There was a jumping castle, jungle gym and there was also a good menu for the kiddiewinks.
The menu was pretty normal, pizza, sandwiches and salads, but it was tasty. We both had the chicken mayo, bacon and avocado sandwiches and shared a side of hand cut sweet potato fries. The best part was the homemade mayonnaise, which was not a thick sauce, but rather, a thinner, frothier style of mayo. We loved it so much that @morkrock wanted to drink it straight out of the serving bowl, but luckily I stopped him. 馃槀馃槀
They also had fabulous G&T concoctions, my fave was the Lemongrass and Elderflower Gin and Tonic.
There is also a cute little deli, where they sell cheeses, breads, jams and preserves and other similar items. The shelves were a bit empty that day as there had been a park run earlier, but it definitely looked like a sweet little deli.
We had a lovely time and enjoyed the food. While not my best wine farm ever, it was enjoyable . A beautiful setting with delicious food
I snapped this on the way home. The clouds were scrambled all over the sky from the hectic winds we had, and are still having!
Hope you enjoyed my review of Meerendal Wine Farm. See you on the flip side!!
