LadyFont prepares CHAPATIS
Chapati is a typical bread from India and Pakistan, it is not a very tasteful bread but is like the plate they use to eat any curry meal or whatever you think of. They use a grease called ghee that is clarified butter, I used it in my meals and it gave a good taste to food but you can use olive oil and I think you can try with pork fat or any kind you have at home.
I had special activities making chapatis with friends, each one had to make his or her own chapati and if it didn't grow we made fun of him or her and for us it was a looser. In my family we have made chapatis together and we were lucky that all the chapatis inflated. We eat them with jams or with my special pickled of eggplant but you can prepare anything you like. it is very amusing.
Ingredients:
250 grms of wholemeal flour
1 teaspoon of salt
1 tablespoon of ghee or any kind of oil
1 cup of hot water
Procedure:
- Place the flour, ghee and salt in a bowl
Add the water and start to mix
Knead on the table and let it rest for 25 minutes
After this time divide it in 6 small balls
Extended with the roller in small circles, they don't have to be perfect
Cook them in pan very hot for 1 minute in each side
Then put each one on the flame and cook quickly for both sides and be careful they don't burn, you will see how they inflate
Place them in a cloth to keep hot
Eat as you please
