"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place" (Acts 2:1). According to today's reading, while the disciples gathered praying in one accord, certain events began to take in quick succession. There is a thing like the joy of unity. sometime ago, while speaking to a group of eminent men of God, I told them of the club of the Almighty comprising only three members namely: God Himself being the first of the three with whom nothing shall be impossible (Luke 1:37). The next person is the believer with whom all things are possible (Mark 9:23). And the third are the people who are united and therefore unstoppable (Gen. 11:5-6). God said that although He is the creator of Heaven and earth and has all power, yet when people are united, there is nothing they want to do that he can stop them from doing. The only way to stop such people is to cause division in their midst. One thing we learn from this is that there is nothing prayed for in one accord that will not be answered. This also shows the power of corporate prayer particularly when done in one accord.

"Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven" (Matt. 18:19). By virtue of their accord in the upper room, something new took place. You will notice that peter never failed again from that moment. He never backslid nor was afraid again. In one day, all of God's promises to peter were fulfilled. Earlier, the Lord promised to make him a fisher of men. Until then, there was no record he won a single soul. But from that day, if he made a mistake to open his mouth, he got a harvest of souls into God's kingdom. Also, the Lord had promised that he would receive power after the Holy Ghost baptism and on that very day, power came to him. The fisherman began to make the lame to walk, heal the sick and raise the dead. The Lord had also promised to give him the keys to the Kingdom. Even though nobody voted him, when the Holy Spirit descended, he suddenly rose by the power of the Spirit and assumed his leadership role. If we could be in one accord, all pending promises could be filled dramatically. Are you a dissenting voice? Ask for the Spirit of unity today!

Action point: Ask for the spirit of love, unity and oneness to come upon the Body of Christ worldwide.
