bHIVE Daily Bible (Genesis 4:3-5)
Authored by @edwin23
And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord . And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell. Genesis 4:3-5 KJV
On this particular occasion, the kind of sacrifice God asked for was a sin offering and if you truly study your Bible, you will understand some of the significance of a sin offering; one of which is that it requires shedding of blood - animal blood though. Even in the book of Hebrews 9:22, the Apostle Paul said that "without the shedding of blood, there's no remission of sins. That should give a little idea about why Jesus Christ had to die for us. So it didn't matter if the the crops Cain brought was his best, that was not what God wanted even as good as it was. So that was the reason God rejected his sacrifices but God's mercy always endures forever that God had to show him the right thing to do but Cain wouldn't, instead he became offended because his sacrifice was rejected and his brother's was accepted.
By the time he left God's presence, he did not not leave with a good heart but rather with a evil one and that lead him to kill his brother Abel. Even after killing his brother, God still had to reach out to him in love and asked him the whereabout of his brother, still he was still rude to God in giving the answer. There are quit some lessons to learn here and some points I would love to bring out for all to take note of because sometimes, unconsciously, we fall victims of such without even knowing.
IMPORTANT LESSONS;-
First and foremost, find out what God wants. But most importantly, how can you find out what he wants when you don't even know his word?
Know what he wants. After finding/searching from his word that which he wants, you have to know it for yourself that even though the enemy(satan) comes and whisper something otherwise in your ear Wether through friends or family, you stand by what you know.
Don't offer what God wouldn't accept. Most of the times, it's not how good your sacrifice or seed is, it's about obeying what you told to do. If God ask you to give him a certain offering, don't use your head to try and figure out your own opinion.
I hope these few points I have given can help set things right in your dealings with God when it comes to your sacrifices. If you have some more points you would love to add, kindly drop it on the comment section and let's grow more in the knowledge of God's Word.
