Love your enemies, do good to them that hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. - Luke 6:27-28

As at that time, Jesus began by teaching the message of love and mercy to his disciples.

He said:

But I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you. Bless them that curse you and pray for them which despitefully use you.

If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you.

Jesus our hero of love and model has taught us how to love (by showing us the way through his death on the cross).

For what is greater than this, for a man to give himself for his neighbor?

"God is love" as the book of John Says and we who are made of his own image must possess such same virtue.

This is the agape love, that which is the foundation of mercy, unconditional and fruitful, (a mercy which is not limited, rather inspired by the Spirit of God).

Furthermore, the scripture obliges us to love (not just those who love us) but to extend that love to one another, even to those who don't love us, to do good to those who plans evil against us, to forgive those who offends us.

And unto him that smiteth thee on the cheek offer also the other, and him that taketh away thy cloak, forbid not to take thy coat also. Give to every man that asketh of thee and of him that taketh away thy goods, ask them not again. (the scripture says)

There's no mercy without forgiveness, that's why he teaches us how to forgive for we cannot do so by our own power.

It's for this reason that the Lords prayer includes "forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sins/trespass against us.

We must learn to be merciful as our Father, not judging, condemning, but forgiving in love and showing mercy.

If it's love, give.
If mercy, show it.
If forgiveness, extend it.
If charity, express it.

For It's in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned
It's in dying that we are born to eternal life

The book of Luke Chapter six verse thirty eight (Luke 6:38) says:

Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." (New International Version)

In conclusion, the book of Luke tells us that if we do these, the reward will definitely be given to us. Then our reward will be great, and we will be children of the Most High, because we are kind to the ungrateful and wicked. We show mercy, just as our Father in heaven is merciful.

It's the measure that we give that we get back, the seed we sow is what we reap. Can you sow an orange seed and expect a mango fruit or cashew seed, an apple plant? Not at all. Therefore we must apply the golden principle - Do unto others what you want them to do unto you.

May God give us the grace to walk in alignment with His word, according to purpose. Amen!
