I am fairly lucky in a way to be born in a nice spot. South East Ireland in a town called Clonmel. It has around 28,000 people living here. The town is in a valley with mountains all around. I never really thought anything of this until I had german friends visit me and they were taken back by the scenery. I took them for a walk with the dogs just to show them some of the mountains. There are two mountain ranges . Slievenamon which is a steep climb and the comeraghs which have some of the best trails around to go hill walking. The comeraghs are where I bring the dogs every day and there are many trails. The race track is opposite my house and here is a view of Slievenamon in the background.

I bring the dogs off to the hills most days especially in the summer where I can reach the lakes in good time. I normally go to the lakes called the Crottys lakes. Three small lakes edged into the mountains. The views are breathtaking but as I say when I am doing it every day I forget. Here's a nice photo walking to the second Crottys lake last summer.

But the lake that really takes my breath away is a more isolated giant called Coumshingaun. It is the largest corrie lake in Ireland. Corrie lakes are lakes surrounded by mountains and cliffs. I normally do a loop above before I descend but you have to be careful here because it is miles from civilisation and the only way you are getting out is by helicopter if you twist your ankle. Here are a view photos from the loop up top.

Then down I go and the dogs go for a swim to cool down from their climb.

Don't know what I am at in this picture below with the family jack russell looking up worried how he will get me home. It takes a good hour to get down from the lakes and somteimes I have left it to late so I put the dog on the lead and he pulls me back to the car in the dark. Ireland is so sparsely populated from the top of the lake you can bearly see any house for miles around.

Then I spin around by the magic road and test it out. You guessed it. It is a road where you park the car uphill and it rolls up. It is a popular tourist attraction for people to bring their friends too and it is actually mad. Handbrake off and the car rolls uphill! But thats for another post.

So there we have it. This is where I go walking everyday. Keeps me fit. It's nice t be able to share some photos of the Comeraghs and the lakes hidden in there that not many people know about. But thats Ireland for you.
