My next post was supposed to be about the Air Show I attended in Stuart, Florida this weekend.
Please skip to the MachWire if you’re only interested in the people mentioned in the title.

Well, computer problems, a CheapA$ (shout out to Rocktropians) phone, and an overzealous trigger finger, had me quickly maxing out a borrowed phone. Ended up with 4 gigs (about 1 of images and another 3 from vids). Now I can see why the Galaxy Note comes with half a terra. I mean, I started taking solo stills of the last few performers. That includes the F-16 climax of afterburner scorched earth. Really would have been nice to have the vid on for that one.

Anywayz.. If any of you like the above, then I encourage you to return once I see if the dropbox went through from my bud’s phone. Not sure how many hundreds of images I'll be sifting through. Won’t be too nice, since I kept my RL eye on the plane... so most are shoulder shots.

Mach Wire: Business Intelligence for the Blockchain Market (Litmus Test #4)

I went ahead with this post because I do believe I found an important cycling topic.
Krugman vs. Haun
Nobel laureate (for economics) Paul Krugman debated general partner of the $300M venture crypto fund a16z, Kathryn Haun, (and others) about the importance and potential of blockchain.

You can view the video where Krugman states outright that:

It’s not at all clear even now that there is anything that you can do with crypto that you can’t do other ways.

Sead Fadilpašić reported in Cryptonews on August 01, 2018 that Krugman sees:
...cryptocurrency is at least 300 years behind the current, let’s call it traditional monetary system.
and is
... too expensive to create, transactions are frictive, costs of doing business are high. On the other hand, conventional money ‘generally does its job very well’...
Using a bank account means trusting a bank, but by and large banks justify that trust..

OK, hold on, no need to shout “2008”. That last comment was meant to compare trusting a bank vs. the track record of cryptos. Still, he does not seem like much of a tech guy as he underestimated the popularity of the Internet beyond cat videos.

Kathryn Haun, begins to shed some light on why an intelligent mind of the highest order might come to such conclusions. She counters with BCH as currently a better payment solution than BTC. Haun goes on to discuss how blockchains are different.

Krugman stands firm with what establishments have built and to just throw that out is not a smart way to go. It is doubtful that he has given much thought to the investments of IBM, Oracle, Alibaba, Amazon, etc. Now, it could just be that much of his life he followed an administrative lead. Certainly not to take away from his work. Few, if anyone, are capable of his accomplishments. Nevertheless, consider his discussion of government officials where he says:

...trendiness is a very big factor in all of this.

Granted, trendiness plays a role as was the case during the record markets at the end of 2017, but for officials who have professional tracks the likes of G-men, I doubt very much that trendiness is anything more than a political factor. Paying about $5 for a cup of coffee in D.C. is not something one wants to post on twitter. To give you an even better idea of his mindset, he does not even give much consideration to the differences between centralized and decentralized exchanges.
Vitalik Buterin and Focusing Our Energy

...Vitalik Buterin had to defend himself against allegations that he is leaving Ethereum.
- reported by Sead Fadilpašić in Cryptonews on November 05, 2018

He should not need to expend energy here. In fact, during the last WLS Hangout (#9), the @officialfuzzy touches upon not wasting energy and finding productive solutions. We really need to reinforce this, especially since many of us get excited about the potential for blockchain and related tech.

What is possible with hyper-focus? Hopefully the CryptoWorld will one day know.

Remember, we takeoff into the wind.
