馃嵓 A Bee is Born!
I saved the best for last, or at least what I think is the best :-) Here is a new born bee crawling out of it's cocoon for the first time. You can see the rough cell edges where it chewed its way out. More amazing is the amount of hair that is all matted down from being cramped in such a small space. You can often tell the new born bees on a frame as they almost have a 'wet' look to them with the way the hair is matted down. After a few hours of activity the hairs spread out and it is less noticeable.
This wraps up the week of beekeeping macro photography. I hope you enjoyed it.
