The Beast Beer Challenge - Day 8 - Goose IPA by Goose Island Beer Co.

DAY 8 - and finding beers I haven't tried before is getting a little bit more challenging.
My quest for tomorrow is to visit a few convenience stores and see what they have in stock. The final days may be more of challenge than I anticipated!

Goose IPA

I have to admit that I've seen this beer around but never got around to trying it. Truth is, in my youth, I was never really a fan of IPAs and then I had, for all intents and purposes, quit drinking beer. When I was talking to my husband about the beer challenge last night, I said, "If I drank 2 beers a month it was a lot!" and he responded, "Mere, if you drank two beers a year that was a lot."

I'm really enjoying the beer challenge and expanding my taste buds but since I don't mix beer with other alcoholic beverages, I admit that I kind of miss my whiskey. The amount of carbonated drinks I've consumed is more than I've had in a few years since I've pretty much quit drinking soda too. I'm starting to get beer bloat. LOL

ABOUT THE BEER

Stamped clearly on the label it says:
"We don't need to be the ONLY beer you drink. We just want to be THE BEST beer you drink."

There is something about that which really appeals to me. It goes to what I've always told my kids, and a mantra I often repeat to myself: There is no shame in falling short of a goal if you always try your very best to reach it.

On the side of the can in much smaller font states: "You are about to enjoy 16 fluid ounces of bright citrus aromas and bold hop finish."

It truly does have a "bright" taste to it, but not overly citrus-tasting, which was pleasantly surprising!
Finally an IPA that doesn't confuse my taste buds with a front-end taste followed by an after-taste. Goose IPA has a very smooth and consistent flavor, which is rather enjoyable!

For an India Pale Ale, I was quite surprised how much I like this beer and I know, with certainty that it will be in my shopping cart again in the future. Here's why...

According to Goose Island Beer Co.'s website, the International Bitters Unit (IBU) is 55 out of 100, which is just enough bitter to make me happy. Remember, I've stated quite a few times that I prefer a dark, bitter beer. Finally a lighter one that doesn't make me think about recipes so it doesn't go to waste!

No, my friends... I'll be drinking this beer.
