I must admit I think a lot about whaleshares but do not pick up my laptop to write about it when I feel the urge I am sorry for that!
Maybe it is a good idea to start my story where things went the wrong way and stopped me from writing.
November 2019 on a sunday morning I went upstairs to make my bed, because my motto was make your bed every day, than at least you know you have a noce bed waiting to lay your head down in the evening.
Mozart my cat mozart.jpeg was a sleep on my husband side of the bed he was not allowed at the top floor but I saw a little bug walking away from him, first I thought it was a flee but it was somewhat bigger. I did not think much of it, picked it up and threw it out of the window. But a bit warned I feld the urge to check the bed! so I took the sheets down and turned the matras over..... My goodness :-o I freaked out a big black horrible dirty looking spot was settled on my fantastic very expensive matrasses ! Little bugs where having a party on that spot, I really saw about 20 that time. I picked them up threw them through the toilet and went down staires, to my husband I said , we have a real big problem ! there are bugs on our matras on your side

I think they are BEDBUGS
I had to do some shopping so I first did that, and when I came home I descided to have a good look. It was not only Lee's side but also where our pillows are and on my side in the middle, by that time I was crying.
We made a quick descision I said I do not want to sleep on a bed with dead bodys I rather sleep on the floor. We threw our quilt our matrasses through the window, every thing that was under the bed, like socks and underwear neatly folded in open boxes, fancy dresses, pyamas etcetera we did store needly in open flat boxes under our bed I threw it all out of the window. We ordered a container for the week after and started reading what to do when you got bedbugs. After reading the internet I got totally freaked out. The next days were filled with washing all our clothets 32 carbage bags full! to a washing saloon and washing nonstop. All the clothes went in to plastick bags and containers and moved them in to the garden shed. We allowed our selves each 4 pairs of trousers 7 pairs of underwear 7 pairs of socks, 7 thsirts 3 pullovers and two more descent outfits, which we kept in airtide bags.
We threw the cupboards in the container, teared out the carpet and even the stuff in the batroom we threw away.
There came dogs that can smell them and they smelled them in all rooms except for the living room.
In 2 months time I lost about 15 kilos, noone was allowed by us to come in our house, we walked around with rubber slippers everyday washing clothes and bed sheets everyday hoovering the whole house, steaming the beds, and furnuture. Oh man it was such a hard life!
The stuff that the american sites advice to use we do not have in europe so we had to fight whit what we had for hands. That was cleaning, hoovering steaming using essential oils to burn what the bugs should not like. Have electronical divices in our electric outlets which also would keep them on a distance. we did use Diatomaceous earth , this is a type of powder made from the sediment of fossilized algae found in bodies of water. Because the cells of these algae were high in a compound called silica, the dried sediment produced from these fossils are also very high in silica. The idea is that the bed bug walks through it, pulls it inside there shielded bodys and they slowly dry out and die. Lee and I slept that time 2 floors down in my beautysaloon where I had a bed for sleepovers for friends.
My whole life from there went pear shaped.
Saying that I must admit We did only find that load under our matrasses and 1 in my sons room. Not one afterwoulds to be seen! We unpacked the shed after 2 years! It felt like xmas to get my clothes back.
Lee painted the bedroom closed all the holes he saw, used silicones to close of everything where they could hide, changed light switches and all. And we put laminat down. We even bought a special bugheater, because when you heat your room up to 60 degrees Celcius they will die! But we are to scared of it to use it :-)
2 years we were totally in the ban of bugs! I can not tell you how it made me feel!!
March this year we bought new matrasses again, and special covers for all matrassen and moved back upstaires.
The whole thing turned us next to bankrupt, for sure it has costed us about ten thousand euro to clean steam and buy new stuff.
I still wash my sheets every 3 days, and will hoover and steam that day everything. Every night before I go to bed I check my bed and matras, and the night stands and the curtains. It is still living in me and I think I will never loose it.
We for sure never knew that the little rhym night night sleep tight do not let the bed bugs bite, would ever have such an impact on us.
The year 2021 has been a disaster for us aswell but that will be for an other time....
