A Dollar A Day charitable giving project : how best to work on Whaleshares - help and advice wanted

The A Dollar A Day charitable giving project was established on the steem blockchain in May of this year.

The basic mechanism of the project is that people on steem donate 1 SBD (or steem equivalent) per day for as many days as they would like. The daily donations from all donors are pooled together to make one larger donation every day to a worthy charitable cause on the steem blockchain.

Through this 'little and often' giving mechanism well over US$ 3000 equivalent has now been donated to over 20 different projects around the world.

You can read the full details of the donations given out in August as an example in this steem post :

I am now exploring the best way to expand the A Dollar A Day project on to Whaleshares.

I am still new to Whaleshares so not so conversant with the mechanics and economics of the platform so I would welcome any ideas, input and advice from the Whaleshares experts.

As most of the recipient charitable causes are not yet on Whaleshares I do not think the same daily donation mechanism would be appropriate.

But that has given me one possible idea.

As well as the regular donations that A Dollar A Day gives out we do commonly receive requests for one-off or emergency support - often for larger amounts than the daily donations (usually 15 - 20 SBD per day).

I have therefore had the idea that Whaleshares might be a platform to collect, through regular or adhoc donations, a larger pot of funds to support these one-off donation requests.

I would welcome input on this...

  • Do people think this is a good idea?

  • Is it only WLS that can be transferred at present?

  • How do you get WLS as I only seem to earn Whalestake from posting?

  • Would anyone be interested in donating to A Dollar A Day either regularly or as adhoc donations?

I haven't yet setup a separate @adollaraday account on Whaleshares so any donations would have to be to my account @pennsif memo'd for A Dollar A Day.

Thank you.
