"I would be an empty vessel, if I chose now, not to rise"

To thread softly upon the wishes of others,
to open ourselves up to the rhythm
that comes in waves and brings us so gently on to the shore.
I find myself light headed and wanting more.

To sail away upon the brightest star
to ride upon the darkness
that carried me this far,
so that I can glimpse the oncoming light
and hold all that I crave
all that shines upon our souls so bright.

Wishing for the magic
to come take me away
remembering those childish whispers
that laid me out bare.

And I repeat this pattern
so that I get to hold on to what once was
this repetitive dreaming
that goes on and on.

So high above,
the lingering eyes
of lonely giants
I create this make believe
as I create new life.

Swept away by the power of noise,
So that I stand now,
transformed and wild.

My imagination settles on that star
and I know that the window into our souls
is now left ajar,
so vulnerable
so tempted to leave it all behind.
But I would be an empty vessel if I chose now,
not to rise.

My poetry is always freestyle, I have never really considered writing ones that are structured, as I like the words to just flow from me. Maybe one day I will try, but for now, this is what comes naturally.

I write because it helps me make sense of life, of this journey that we are one, that takes us in waves and is constantly changing. Now more than ever, so many changes, so much uncertainty. That I find myself longing for those days of innocence, looking at my girls and seeing how they just live for each day. So aware and mindful of what life is really all about.

For how can we know how things will go, what is important, is to live each day as authentically as we can. Whilst using our art to express ourselves, to get it all out. To process in a way, that allows us to move forward.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week so far.
