Who is the Holy Spirit? Where did the meat come from?
God has given us a new power: The Holy Spirit. When we let the Holy Spirit enter us, it automatically takes control and goes into battle against the flesh, in our favor. When we talk about battle, it means that the Holy Spirit will be responsible for freeing us from all the negative actions of the flesh. He does not let us try to overcome the flesh with our own strength, for He knows very well the weakness of the flesh and knows that temptations without their help are difficult to overcome.
¿Who is the Holy Spirit?
The Holy Spirit is God! The Holy Spirit is a Person and He is God! We need to keep this great truth in mind at all times: "The Spirit of God within me is a Person, God lives in my heart." Every believer in the Lord Jesus Christ has the Holy Spirit dwelling in him. And, once the Holy Spirit has come to dwell in our hearts, it will never leave us. The Lord Jesus said:
And I will pray to the Father, and he will give you another Comforter, so that he may be with you forever (John 14:16.
The Holy Spirit works in us giving us the life of Christ and in turn fights against the flesh to strengthen us and free us from all kinds of temptations. He knows the power of the flesh within us, knows that easily dominates our will, inducing us to do things that we do not really want to do. Even the apostle Paul could not overcome the flesh in his own strength. He said:
Because I do not do the good I want, but the evil I do not want, that's what I do (Romans 7:19)
One of the consequences of man's fall into sin is that he became flesh (that is, a sinful being - Genesis 5: 1,3 and 6: 3). The Bible calls flesh the sinful part of man, the human nature contaminated with sin. It is the set of all corrupted human instincts. An inherited inclination for the bad, the dirty and the forbidden. The Christian must be watched, because there will always be a conflict between his conscience and the carnal will - Romans 7: 7-25. Until death we will have to live with that (1 Corinthians 15:42, 53-54),
The flesh is human nature without God. It is what we are in ourselves separated from God. The meat came from Adam.
God wanted Adam to be governed by the Spirit of God, but Adam disobeyed Him. When he did this, he died spiritually. Adam was separated from the Spirit of God. His soul and body became sinful.
Instead of being governed by the Spirit of God, Adam was now ruled by his sinful soul and body, which the Bible calls "the flesh." Because of the fact that he was the beginning of the human race, Adam passed on his sinful nature to the entire human race.
For from within, from the hearts of men, come forth the evil thoughts, the adulteries, the fornications, the murders, thefts, the greed, the wickedness, the deceit, the lust, the envy, the slander, the superb, foolishness All these evil things come from within, and defile the man (Mark 7: 21-23).
When we are born again, something wonderful happens. The Holy Spirit comes to dwell in us. So the Christian has within himself the flesh and the Spirit, obtaining as a result a pleasant life full of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance
Some Christians believe that their old nature was destroyed or taken away when they accepted Christ, but that is not true. God does not take away the old sinful nature when He saves us; instead he gives us his Spirit to overcome it.
which will always oppose the Spirit of God that is in us. While we are in this life, we will have the carnal nature, which will always oppose the Spirit of God that is in us. The Bible says:
For the desire of the flesh is against the Spirit, and that of the Spirit is against the flesh; and these oppose each other (Galatians 5:17).
